someone has switched the wiring harness sockets to the wrong bulbs or installed the bulbs in reverse. get in behind the headlight assembly on the driver side and reverse the wires, if that does not work then pull the bulbs and swap them inside to outside and vice versa.
the relay for your highbeem lights is bad, replace it and you should be good, or you could just switch the high beem relay, with the low beem relay, they are the same, and if the high beems work like that you know its full proof, if not... well you know, we will hafta move to something else.. hope you find this helpful
Sounds like the contacts in your switch are going bad. The switch in your high-low beam lever is extremely hard to get to as the steering column will need to come out, if it's the style I recall on a 97. The switch you may be able to find on the web somewhere because if you get it from ford it may be pricey. You will probably need to take it to your local service center to be replaced.
DIMMER SWITCH OUT OF ADJUSTMENT.I SEEN CAR WITH SAME PROBLEM THEIR HIGH BEAMS WOULDNT WORK.THE DIMMER SWITCH AND BULBS WAS GOOD.IT TURNED OUT TO BE DIMMER SWITCH NEED TO ADJUSTED.
Faulty high/low beam switch. Pretty common on GM cars/trucks... Switch is about $125 plus labor. CHECK YOUR FUSES first. See owner's manual for location(s)....
You probably have the low side of your bulb blown check the bulb if that dont fix it ck your conector.if your dimmer switch was bad it wouldnt work on eather side. I will try to get you a diagram for the fuse box. PHIL.
The most probable cause is the multifunction switch. But I would try replacing one of the bulbs first to see if your low beems on the headlights or both bad. I have seen this several times. If the bulbs are OK the most likely fix would be the switch.
