Question about Yamaha YZ 250 Motorcycles
You have CDI ignition. The ignition timing can not be changed.

The stator and flywheel each have a timing mark located on them, connect a timing light to the plug wire, pos/neg leads to a 12v power source (i use a battery jumper) loosen the stator plate, start bike, adjust plate carefully using timing light until marks are aligned. tighten everything up.
enjoy knowing that you did the job correctly and didn't listen to retards on the interwebs.
