I bet you have a nylon bushing that has gotten brittle and disintegrated. Your local Kawasaki dealer should have an exploded view of your machine. Look to where the linkage and cable meet on both ends.

put some grease in the tranny, and while your at it check th back diff too, by just loosening the pumpkin bolt and sticking your finger in there to see if there is enough 75/90, if not just ADD TO THE PUMPKIN till it reaches the top of the bolt hole while the unit is sitting on its 4 wheels it should just be spilling out at the threads put bolt back in and hand tighten then snug but not too tight, tht should do it.
