First you should not have to replace the seat to replace the battery. You take the mounting bolt off the right hand side of the battery cage and slide it out. Disconnect the battery terminals and slide it out. To take the seat off the mounting bolts are located on the rear of the seat by the brake light.

Bike has set for awhile. Got it running but have fuel running out of vent tube. What's the problem and fix?

The needle and seats are not seating correctly. Remove the fuel bowls and check the float heights and clean the needle and seats with some carby cleaner.

Sounds to me like a dead battery. Remove the seat (three bolts) and the cover to the battery compartment (one screw) then with your volt ohm meter, check the voltage of the battery.

How do you remove the seat on the 2002 honda shadow ace delux to change the battery

First, remove the passenger seat; one bolt behind it anchors it to the fender; then lift the back end and push against the rider seat to disengage the keyhole mount to the front bolt. It pops up when you do this.

The bolt that engages the passenger seat bracket also anchors the rider seat. Remove it and lift the seat off.

An electronic (expensive) module clips in above the battery. Remove it and handle it carefully. Now you can get the battery.

I learned this by experience on a bike I had never seen before, so I checked the Clymer manual. This is what it says too. Worth the money!

This is more than likely a carb (fuel) issue. Start with verifing you correct float level. Next check for correct needle position, diaphram, and springs on same. Also check to make sure clip for "accelator pump" is in correct place. Hope this helps.

you need to remove the starter and bench test it. Once you get the starter off you can hook the ground of a jumper cable to the starter and then touch the positive to the postitve post and you may need to jump to the solenoid
