Sounds like what you realy need to do is remove the carb jets and give them a good clean , this if I am right is the twin V 8 valve engine with twin Klhein carbs , make sure also your air filter is not dirty and check tank fuel filter ,, other than that you may be intrested in the manuel obtainable from this site
hope this helps good luck .. and Live long and prosper lol .. Regards Vortash

First I would change all the spark plugs, and if that didn't make a difference then it sounds like the coil(s) are warming up and breaking down........when it starts to skip take a good pair of pliers with good rubber on them and pull each spark plug wire, when you get to the one that the running doesn't change then I would replace that particular coil

If your bike is equpped with a carburator, it sounds like you carb is not opening correctly. Remove your aif filter. Now, the the bike not running, open the throttle wide open. If your bike has an S&S Super E carb on it, you should be able to see all the way into the intake manifold. You should also see a squirt of fuel as you twist the carb to full open. Once full open, the throttle plate inside the carb should be pretty near horizonal. If not, something is wrong with your throttle cables. Check those to make sure they're adjusted properly. You should have a little freeplay at the throttle grip, about 1/16 of a turn. Just a bit, that's all.

sounds like an ignition problem namely the coil or module. you might check to see if these are warm to the touch or hot after riding your 5 min. if so a meter check will determine if replacement is necessary. also check for loose leads anywhere. also make sure your plug is good and the right heat range for the bike. i assume you are saying it quits running but doesnt lock up. if its seizing up then your rebuild kit is likely the culprit and will have to tear it down and check clearances with the rings and cylinders and piston etc. good luck.
