Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.
2.Engine Stop switch in the OFF position.
3.Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and Ignition/Light Key Switch not cycled to Off and then back to Ignition
5. Starter control circuit, relay or solenoid faulty.
6. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or over-running clutch slipping.

As running but when i would kill it and turn the key back on it was makeing a loug noise comeing frome the dash it did that for two days and today i went to crank it and it wouldnt even turn over at first...

I was dealing with a 95 grand am that was having similar issues. The battery was weak in the car causing the car to fail to read the transponder in the key. This was caused by a weak alternator in the car I was working on. I recommend having them both tested at an AutoZone or similar parts store. For whatever reason, the Grand Am was very sensitive and although both were "ok" they needed to be 100% to keep it running right. I'm not sure about the loud noises but the rest was the same down to the lights staying on after the key was shut off. I hope that helps to cure some of it. Good luck!

IF your engine is turning but not starting, try the above link to my tip.
IF youre not even getting the engine to turn over, the click you hear, may be the starter trying to throw the gear out to engage the flywheel (sounds like "clunk"), or if is a rapid ("clicky-clicky') sound, that's you're starter relay under your hood in you're realy/fuse panel

I was trying to start my car tonight, and it woouldnt turn over. I have all my lights so I know that it is not the alternator or the battery, could it be my starter?

Could be low battery. Did you hear a chattering sound when you tried to start it? Normal battery voltage fully charged is actually over 13 volts. Try to jump start it. If you don't get a response out of it, then check your fuses. Check engine bay fuses (under the hood) and interior fuses (inside the car-drivers side) Also could be starting relay. have a second person turn the key and you listen for a relay under the hood. If the IGN relay does not pull in, hten you either have a bad fuse, or bad relay or bad ignition keyswitch or bad transmission neutral position switch. if relay pulls in and then chatters, it does not have enough voltage to stay pulled in and attempt to run the starter motor at the same time, which is why it will make that fast clicky-clicky noise. if it does pull in and nothing happens then your starter is either bad or not connected electrically.

When ignition is switched on their is a whirring sound and engine wont turn over.and start.

It sound like the lobes on the starter's shaft have worn down and aren't making positive contact with the flywheel anymore. A "whirring sound" would be the starter motor spinning but not "catching". If it's a clicky/buzzing sound then it would more likely be the starter solenoid, low battery/bad alternator.
The "whirring" sound should still be winding down for just a second after you turn the key off. The "buzzing" symptom will stop instantly when you turn the key off.

Samurai has an occasional inconsistent cranking problem

The problem is a factory solenoid prone to failure, do a search on "clicky starter fix" for instructions to repair it with a relay or check low range offroad.com rocky road outfitters.com... to buy a prebuilt kit for about $15

Flash not working

I figured out how to fix the flash... but not the clicking sound in the lens. To fix it... click the mode button, then go to the settings icon
(the arrow pointing at the wrench), then keep going down to the reset all part. and click okay while your on it. Your flash should work after that!

Lifter clicking sound in 4.6 engine

it could be your tensioner. it sounds like a clicky squeak. sometimes it may go away but it always comes back. thats what mine is but i havent fixed it yet. i doubt you can grease it, you probably need it replaced. not expensive, at least the part should be under 100 bucks

Agitator and spin cycle

if you hold onto the top of the agitator stopping it from turning, and turn the "blades" at the bottom, does it make a ratcheting, clicky sound when you turn them opposite direction from each other
