Why does my 1999 Ford Expedition eating starters after replacing valve cover, removed cruise control box but it is back exactly the same?

Its your starter shims. Put shims in , what is happening is your starter gear is remaining engaged even after it starts thus it tears up the starter and the gear. It may take 2-3 shims. When you replaced your first starter did it have shims? I am willing to bet it did. Give it a try and i bet this fixes your problem. Good luck

Nissan pathfinder 1995 model SUV, when i try to start it its making a whinning noise then i hear a hard clucking sound and the whinning goes away without the car starting

Does the engine crank at all ?
The low whine could be the starter turning but not engaging the flywheel.
The clunk could be when the bendix gear on the starter makes contact with the flywheel.
If the starter does not have enough voltage, the solenoid or bendix may not engage. Even tho you replaced both the starter and battery, there could be a problem with the cables or the ground connection.

Engine will not crank, and I've already replaced to terminals on the battery. Plenty of juice from the battery but no start

Very possible bad starter. Do you hear any clicking noise at the starter? You can try taking a long metal rod and smacking on the starter where the solenoid is while someone is trying to start the vehicle and see if the starter will engage at that time. Good luck.

try shimming the starter , it sounds like it is a tiny bit to close to the flywheel and is binding, causing a tinny or metal to metal sound.
dosent sound like it needs a very thick shim .probably no more
than a thousands or two. hope this helps

My 1996 Chevrolet Blazer won't start most of the time. Engine don't turn over, or the starter when I turn the key. All I can hear is some clicking coming from the carbarator & a humming noise under my...

The humming noise you hear is the fuel pump. It is probably your starter soleniod. If you hear an electric click under the dash near the steering column when you turn the key then the ignition switch is ok and your starter needs to be replaced. This happened to me last month.

2004 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado has problems with starting

Sounds like the starter clutch is slipping and or beginning to fail. You should take it back and have them inspect the starter clutch for scoring or damage.

2000 olds intrigue will not crank

you have 3 choices.
1) Bad battery
2)Starter motor solenoid is inoperative or starter motor itself is inoperative
3) your engine is locked up
How old is your battery and are the connections to the starter motor good?
Do you hear a clicking noise when you try to start the engine?
Do you have a clunk noise when you try to start it?

If dirty connections then clean the terminals andtry to start engine.
Clicking noise means starter solenoid is picking up but starter motor is disunctional and needs replacement.
If the noise is a clunk then your engine is locked up for whatever reason.
Last but not least if you hear the starter motor runningand a metalic grinding then the star is bad on the starter motor which means replacement of same.

Starting problems

if this problem persists then you could check a few things on it, like on the times when its not even making a noise when trying to turn the key, use rubber/wooden object and tap the starter motor but not touching the contacts on the back. if this amkes it spring into life then it will be your starter motor if this does nothing then it will be a dodgy battery supply. does it also make like a screaching noise while trying to start? if so then definitely your starter motor
