If I changed the alternator and the new alternator is good why would my battery light still be on

A open in the wiring somewhere , a burnt fuse or fusible link ! I don't know what make , model an year vehicle you have but most all newer vehicles the charging systems are controlled by the PCM / ECM - engine computer . You should start by doing a good inspection of the wiring harness an connectors on the alternator , no lose connections ! I would tell you to check for battery voltage on the heavier wire on the back of the alternator ! If I knew what make an model an year I could tell you what fuse's to look at ! New alternater still not charging

The car is having power drained somewhere. Check for an electrical short or some kind of "on" power source. Good Luck!!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've changed the alternater,starter, voltages

Troubleshoot first and then change parts! What was the original problem? It just won't crank over? The alternator just charges the battery the voltage regulator keeps from putting too much of a charge into the battery. Was the battery going dead? Did the vehicle start when jumping it with jumper cables? Too many unanswered questions to offer help, sorry.

I have put a new alternater, belt, and battery in my daughter's 1998 Hyundai Elantra and it still want hold a charge. As soon as we give it a jump then we try to move the car it cuts off. I don't know...

I would have the whole charging system tested with a Volt Meter before you change anything else. You can test the Alternator with a Volt Meter while the engine is running. The Alternator should be putting out between 13-14 volts, anything less and you have a bad Alternator. Check all Battery, Starter, Ground connections for loose or corroded wires and tighten or clean as needed.

The battery kept dying. Buying a new one did not work. Now it will not start after being charged then turned off. Could it be the alternater? Another question, can I put one in my self?

Yes, sounds like alternater. Most cars run off battery and the alternater replaces the voltage your using. If alternater is not putting out the car will kill battery very quickly. If you have some basic tools you can change this out yourself. If you have a digital voltmeter to verify the alt is putting out you can charge battery read battery cold, start car and read battery voltage with car running should be between 13.2 to 14.5 volts DC.If battery is reading 12 volts and dropping rapidly, your alt is shot.

Alternater is nocking i think its goin out or just might need to

Alternator knocking ????is the alternator light on is it charging as is almost impossible to get a knocking out of a alternator and it still charge at the same time.
Start engine ind get a small plastic tube and put it on the alternator and put your ear to it and you should hear the noise real bad.
And you should feel it getting real hot after run for 3 minutes if not its not ALTERNATOR

try putting your vehicle on a diagnostic check although you have changed the alternator the ECU ( car computer ) may still think that the alternator is still faulty a diagnostic check will cure your problem by clearing the fault codes on your ECU
