First thing that comes to mind, check valve adjustment to see if adjustment is too tight, causing valve to not fully close.

Pour a teaspoon of oil through spark plug hole in head and run compression test again.
If it jumps up, the rings are bad.

Finally, a "Leak-Down Tester" will help you pin-point the problem:

Testimonial: "Thank you, I was told it's a cracked ring, the cost to fix is more then the bike is worth, even through it looks new . I guess I will ride it till it fails ? My guess it could go for quite a few miles yet . Have you had Experience with this ? Thanks Jim"

Does low compression on a 3.1 litre 1999 cause a p0303 code?

Could be a fuel injector, as long as you are getting around 150PSI in that hole I wouldn't think it would register a miss fire.

2005 Lt1000 only one cylinder is running like it should.Pull the spark plug wire off this one and engine will die. New plugs in both cyl. I can pour gas in the intake on the dead cyl side and it will run...

There is a couple things you can check..If you can get a pressure tester i would get one.. If one side run and the other side doesnt run.. a couple of thing come to mind.. im sure you have done some of these so bare with me..

Have you checked for spark? I know you said it runs when you put gas in the intake manifold.. but if it has weak spark and you pouring fuel right into the combustion chamber it will burn it.. But i assume you have already checked it for spark and found out it has it..

Check for compression i know you said you dont have a compression tester but i would get one.. If the cylinder is between 90-110 you have good compression..

And do you know if it has ohv.. If it does the bad cylinder side might need its valves adjusted.. for that you will a feeler gauge and a few other tools but i think you take it to a repair shop.. You dont want to damage your engine..

p0301=does not mean no compression,it means the computer saw a misfire on # 1 cylinder,
P0345=cam shaft position sensor bank 2,
if the timing marks are on ,i am thinking your hearing a sound of the timing being set too high and pinging under acceleration, try an experiment, refill with a higher grade of fuel for one tank to see if your noise leaves or you hear a difference.

I have a 1.8 n13 sohc pulsar that will not start. It has spark and fuel but compression seems low. Cyl 1 - 100psi, cyl 2 - 80psi, cyl 3 - 100psi and cyl 4 - 70psi. I would like to know what acceptable...

It might have a damaged valves caused by slipped timing belt making the piston and valves banged each other. That is why the compressions are low. Big job.

Compression ratio for jeep cherokee

Ok...you don't want the compression ratio, you need to know what kind of cylinder pressure you should have. Varying with the age of the engine, generally you should be above 120lbs. What you are looking for is one with very low compression in comparison to others. Lets say all cylinders are at 100lbs but one is at 75. that's where the problem is. Once you find one don't bother checking any others, head gasket needs to be replaced. So, all the same or within 20% of each other is fine. Check with ignition disabled and throttle wide open. All plugs removed. Check plugs for antifreeze staining. Spin the engine the same # of times for each cyl, usually 5 or 6 revolutions.

Motor runs rough

Hi,there. I would suggest you do a compression test to verify that the cyl head was installed correctly. If the compression is good,i would check for codes stored in the computer and go from there.Good Luck!!!
