Not if you get the right replacement ignition and get the wires back where they belong should not affect the ecu at all if you get the wires back together right get the schemitic to make sure you get the wires back where they belong ,

Its possible the ignition module has failed caused from the over voltage supply when the voltage regulator overheated.
Have the ignition checked for spark, if this is ok then it has to be a fuel delivery problem which unfortunately could be the ECU.
