Honda 1982 XL 125 R. When timing marks line up, why won't the electric timing mark rotate far enough to line up?

The electric timing mark as you call it is activated when the engine is running it shows the advance timing as the engine speed increases.

Many older bikes had a T mark and an F mark on the flywheel. T = Top Dead Center, F = firing mark. I had one of these in the early '80's, from what I remember you have to set up the flywheel to T, the cam wheel to its marker on the cylinder head. then you have to make sure the piston is on the firing stroke both tappets closed.

Also you need to make sure the cam chain tensioner is free as this will make the chain pull back. Once you have everything in the correct position and you are at the correct point in the 4 stroke cycle the engine should start. Good luck

Where do i find the timing marks on a 1985 honda accord 4 cylinder

. The timing pointer must be aligned with the white mark on the flywheel; the cam pulley must be set so the small dot or the word UP is vertical and the marks on the edges of the pulley are aligned with the surface of the head

Finding timing marks 1972 honda cl100

The flywheel cover will need to be removed from the right hand side of your crank case. You will probably need to remove the shift lever from the shift shaft too. This is accomplished by removing the bolt from the lever with a 10mm wrench and sliding the lever from the shaft. Next remove the #2 philips screws that attach the flywheel cover to the case. When you get the cover off you will be looking at the flywheel. On the upper edge of the crank case there should be a vee shaped notch in the casting. This should align with the line marked "F" stamped onto the flywheel when the points are just opening. There is also a "T" line stamped into the flywheel too and this the firing position when the timing is advanced mechanicaly with the engine running. This can be checked with a timing light at about 3000 rpm. I can send pictures if you want to email me.

I can email a PDF of the page in the factory service manual that shows how to time the engine. You will need a timing light. The file has two line art drawings and two photos. I can call tomorrow to get your email address. I can then email you and attach the PDF file. Below is what it looks like. The Fixya system doesn't handle PDF files. Please rate my answer. Thanks. . tombones49_166.gif

Hello, I have a 1978 honda xl 125 motorcycle. my father is a mechanic. butwe were wondering what the ignition timing need to be on? thank you

There should be 3 marks on the flywheel. As the flywheel turns counterclockwise, the first mark is the full advance timing mark. The next mark is the BTC timing mark. the third mark is the TDC mark. Set the points to .015 gap then use a timing light while rotating the base plate to line up the BTC mark at idle speed, 600 rpm. Now check the full advance timing mark at around 2000 rpm. The idle timing is not as important as the full advance timing. Hopefully the spark advancer is in good condition. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

Won't start - timing procedure

Not sure if you mean ignition timing or cam timing, ignition's not adjustable, cam timing should have a 't' mark on the magneto flywheel, usually on hondas there's a large & small screw in bung in the magneto cover, the mark can be seen through the small one, with it lined up to the mark the cam bolts should either be horizontal or vertical to the head, with the cam lobes both facing evenly downwards away from the rockers.

Timing for honda

the timing marks on 86-89 accords are on the flywheel. there is a 1" x 1/2" hole in the block about 1/2 way down on the front where the engine and trans bolt together. its tough to see because there is a p/s hose bracket in the way. there are marks for tdc and the spec.
