The fork oil is a very specific job needing a manual and a special tool, I don't want to insult anyones mechanical knowledge but if you have never done it before, best to take somewhere else. Engine oil on the other hand is easy, the drain tube to any softail is on the right side by where the frame meets the swing arm, has somekind of plug in it. Start and run bike for a little while, long enough to get it warm but not hot. Remove fill plug and then remove plug in drain line. Using a peice of cardboard or something put in between filter and frame , directing the oil to your drain pan instead of where ever it goes. Put 1 qt oil back in (after everything is reinstalled) start the bike and make sure the oil light goes out, when it does shut bike off and fill to the point that when it is standing upright you get a little oil on the tip of your finger, over filling may result in loss of oil cap from pressure (been there)

Changing rear brakes pads

Hi Anonymous, it's fairly simple and you don't have to remove the caliper or any brake lines. Start by removing master cylinder cap leaving rubber gasket in place and a drain pan underneath. Remove bolts that hold the caliper halves together and pay close attention to to the position of the anti-rattle clip or spring so re-installing it will be easier, and pop it out. With a "C" clamp install on the caliper body so that the screw part is dead center on the old brake pad. Slowly tighten screw clamp until old brake pad pushes back the pistons and bottoms out. Install new brake pads, anti-rattle spring, and caliper half, torque bolts to 20 ft lbs. and your done. Decompress the accordian type master cylinder gasket if necessary and replace the top cover. Finally pump the brake pedal until you get a good strong pedal and your good to go. Good luck

How to install anti rattle spring 97 softial break pads

Hi Anonymous, the rear caliper must be off of the mounting bracket, the anti rattle spring holds the top of the inboard pad and clips into recesses next to the caliper pin bushings on the back side of the caliper mounting bracket. Good luck

Where is the brake light switch on a 2009 harley flstc

There are two.

The front switch is inside the right handlebar switch housing (START, RUN/OFF kill switch, RIGHT TURN SIGNAL) and operates off the front brake lever.
The usual problem with this is it either sticks, or the "tit" that works off the brake lever gets broken off, usually because the front master cylinder wasn\'t installed by the correct procedure.
Usual results is the brake light will not turn off with the ignition on.

The other switch is located along the rear brake hydraulic line.
Start at the master cylinder and follow the line back to the rear caliper, and you\'ll find it eventually.

It appears Harley has a problem with the rear brake light switch on this year, as it tends to spring a leak, brake pedal goes all the way down without stopping, sometimes smoking from the brake fluid being sprayed on hot engine parts, etc.
