Honda gcv 190

My Honda GCV190 on a Simpson pressure washer turns over and begins to catch (5-10 revs), but quickly dies. I suspected a carburetor or fuel line problem, drained and cleaned the carburetor and jet, put in new stabilized fuel - and still can't get it to run. Spark plug looks OK (light tan), but could it be the problem? Kent

Finally found a repairman in Lahaina, and the inner plastic seal between the engine block and carb was cracked, allowing air in, and the main jet was not fully clean. Working now!

If it begins to catch then you definitely have ignition. Try replacing the plug with same type. If same result, the main jet in carburetor is clogged or the needle valve is stuck and not allowing fuel to enter into motor.

Testimonial: "Thank you, richie - I am about to replace the spark plug, having already removed and cleaned the needle valve as well as the main jet. Have fuel flow to the carb, but it just seems to hold for 2 seconds at start and then die. The float floats, and moves freely. More after I put in the new plug."

SOURCE: Honda GCV160 5.5 on a pressure washer runs only intermittently

The problem is the plastic float in the carburetor, it's not adjustable and after sitting up with gas in it it distorts. Save yourself the trouble and buy a new one, you can get them online for $15-$20.

You need to clean the carburetor. The bowl on the bottom of carbutetor has a bolt that holds it on. Remove this bolt and slowly remove the bowl. Be sure to have someone hold the float because if you remove the bowl without supporting the float will drop and the needle valve will fall out. Then you will have to remove the entire carburetor to put back together. Once you get the bolt out you will have to clean the holes in the bolt this is actually the high speed jet. Run a wire through holes and clean with carburetor cleaner. Hope this helps, let me know how you make out.

What kind of pump oil

What you have is a generic pump from china more than likely. Its built along the line of a FAIP pump. They arent supposed to have the oil changed in them at all. Most are sealed pumps but may have a plastic plug in it. If you must replace the oil then I would suggest Pressure washer parts catalog quick links Pressure Washers High Pressure... and get this item 4.5 OZ. AR64545 OIL FOR AXIAL PUMPS. It is recommended for pumps built similarly but not for your specific pump. But it should work. Good luck. W

What kind of pump oil for simpson gcv190

I need to know the model of the pump you have. You are giving us the model of the engine which is a Honda GCV190. Can you tell me the model on the pump itself. It is more than likely an AR pump but I need to know . It is more than likely going to take 30 weight non detergent but some pumps take specific oil. You can also call Barens at Pressure washer parts catalog quick links Pressure Washers High Pressure... They can hook you up with the correct oil for your pump. Good luckOADXAV
