Hi Anonymous, take a test lite and clip it to the power side of the blown fuse clip. Start stabbing the wire that leaves the fuse holder towards the ignition switch, when it lights up you are very close to the short. Please visit website below for a free wiring diagram:

Have a TOYOTA rav4. The heater fuse 50 amp was blown. When I replaced it. The new one blew as well. Wondering if there is a relay issue?

Never heard of a relay problem blowing a fuse. Believe either your heater motor has an internal short, or a short in the wiring to it, like bare hot wire touching metal.
That's a large fuse. Are you sure the heater circuit is the only circuit for that fuse? If it is, makes it easier to find the short. Unplug the heater motor and see if new fuse blows with key on, and heater motor switch on. If fuse don't blow out, probably your heater motor. If fuse blows , could be your resistor pack for the heater or a wire touching metal, it should cause a large spark and a "pop" when it blows fuse.

It was running fine parked it went to get it had blown fuse tried to put new fuse in and it blew as soon as it made contact. key was in off position and all other switches where off

Sounds like there is dead short somewhere, look for metal touching wires or terminals, or exposed wires touching the dash frame or floor under the carpet.

How do i fix short on one of my headlights on my 97?

If you had a short, you would have already done some
testing to come to that conclusion

A short usually is a wire in need of repair that has rubbed through
& is touching metal.

One side of you car has metal & fluids & the other wires
Both sides are part of your electrical circuits

My LG wired remote control has no display - just turned off - seems to have no power - circuit breaker has not tripped? Any advice????

sounds like blown fuse in low voltage control wires. Due to short in wireing usually a wire rubbing against somthing due to vibration. Coating starts coming off wire then touches metal. If fuse replaced and it runs it will most likely will happen again unless short is located.

The circuit breaker for my condenser trips immediately after being flipped on. When the wires from the breaker are disconnected from the unit and the breaker is flipped on it does not trip. The...

Hello, usually the breaker will trip when there is a short to ground, this can be a high voltage wire loose and touching the metal or could be that the winding on the compressor has shorted to ground. If all the wires look secure and not touching metal that most likey your compressor is shorted to ground and must be replaced.

Blows cold air for a minute, then stops blowing, but can still hear fan.

You might have a wires that are shorting out when the motor that blows moves and touching metal so you have to go into and see if any wires are touching metal or lose.

I installed a jvc kdr310 with a pioneer amp and single 12 in sub all worked well and as soon as i drove off less then a quarter of a mile down the road my head unit stopped functioning and said protect i...

the fact that the head unit cut out and went into protect implies that it probably has nothing to do with your pioneer amplifier. If i understood well the amplifier is running the sub woofer. If the speakers are running off the head unit check that there is no speaker cable touching metal causing a short. Sometimes while installing the speaker we don't realize that the speaker terminal can touch on the frame of the surface that it is secured to. If this surface is metal then you get a short, which then makes the head unit go into protect. There is also the possibility that a cable from behind the head unit has come lose or is bare in some place touching metal again. You see it is all usually about being shorted. Without knowing exactly how everything is installed, this is the best i can do. I hope this helps. dreamsystems

Tail lights don't work, although break lights work. when fuses are replaced they burn out as soon as you turn the lights on the fuse goes out.

You have a hot wire shorting to ground.Another words there's a wire that has power(12V) going through it(when you turn on the lights) and it is touching either another wire thats connected to metal(ground) or the 12V wire itself is touching metal causing it to blow the fuse. You or an honest mechanic has to find out all the accesories (like cigarette lighter, electric door locks, and others) that are connected with the light fuse. One of these accesories may have the short thats blowing the fuse.

I have a word titled "PROTECT" on my kdc mp333, how do I get it to function properly again? Pls reply asap.

When the stereo goes into PROTECT mode it is due to a speaker wire having a short circuit or is touching the car chassis somewhere.

Check all speaker wires from the unit to the speakers.

First check that each pair of speaker terminals at the speaker end is not touching. Or, a wire fell of 1 terminal to rest on another.

Best way to check if it's a blown speaker or a wiring short, is to disconnect all speaker connections ( at the speaker end ) making sure the disconnected wires don't touch each other or any metal in the car. press the reset on the unit and power up. If the unit powers up ok, then its a blown speaker.

Otherwise it's a short in the wiring.

If it's a blown speaker, you can connect 1 speaker at a time and the blown 1 will send the unit into protect mode again.

If it's the wiring, disconnect the unit from the wiring and use and ohm meter to check each pair of cables. A reading suggests a short.

If you don't have an ohm meter a battery and bulb will do. This method usually works on a short.

If you have no joy with either method, take each speaker wire in turn and check with a source of earth (anything metal connected directly to the body of the car, cigar lighter main body when pulled slightly out is good)
