Certainly could be. Is the choke stuck on or off? If on it's flooded, if off it's too lean. get it fixed.

How can I free both the stuck choke pullout lever and the on/off switch on my Poulan Pro 18" chainsaw? I tried using the start handle pull to rotate the engine, which turns normally, but switches are still...

This is a carburetor linkage problem and pulling engine though with the starter will not have any effect.

Check all the linkage at the carburetor for problems. Also try pulling the throttle trigger and may sure it operating the carburetor.

Might sound stupid but have you made sure that the cable is functioning properly? and that the choke is not stuck permenantly on.

Unable start

First open choke, then start engine after one minute close the choke. In winter we have to use choke(at carburetor).

Mower starts and runs but has no power acts like its flooding it burns a lot more gas can barley pull it self

Sounds like maybe the choke is stuck closed. If you remove the air filter the choke is the first butterfly valve you can see. The throttle looks similar but is a inch or so deeper into the carb, and you can't see that unless the choke is open. Try removing the air filter and starting the mower. It might run just a little better without the air filter since it will get a bit more air, but if the choke is stuck it still won't run right. But you will be able to see if that's the problem right off. If it runs great without the air filter, and the choke is not stuck, then the problem is a clogged air filter and you need to replace it. Good luck, Al K

I can't start my powerwasher. Where is the choke?

This Power washer has a 3.75 hp Briggs and Stratton Engine. It does not have a choke but does have a primer bulb. You must depress the primer bulb at least 3 times to start the engine. The primer bulb is on the side of the carb. It can be black or red. If your still unable to locate the primer bulb please provide your ENGINE model number and I will provide you a link to a diagram for the location of the primer bulb.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Unable to adjust choke on my hammerhead go kart

Fist off, it a 'choke; not a 'chock' which his a gadget for putting under wheels so they don't roll. As a Moderator I have altered your spelling to help others searching with a similar problem in the future.

Other people have had the same problems with the electric choke and there is a conversion to a manual choke.

Will not start, appears not to be getting fuel. getting spark OK. i have cleaned air filter.

Try changing plug.. If it is not getting enough spark it will not run right or maybe even at all.. Also check to make sure choke is not stuck on or that the choke is engaging.. Had that problem on a 38cc poulan saw.. Choke was stuck open so would start but ran like ****.

Automatic choke is stuck on my bmw

the 318 is fuel injected and has no automatic choke,it does have a cold start system to aid in cold starts, the most likely cause of your problem is a bad or dirty throttle position sensor.you may also need to clean the throttle body and throttle linkages or cables
