Does keeping the filtercap partially open affect the performance or milage??

I opened my filtercap partilly so as to get sound..... is it any trouble for the engine??

If the cylinders get more air they wil overheat.

Or you have a faulty thermostat. The thermostat may not be allowing the engine to reach operating temperature if stuck open or leaks keeping it in open loop. This will affect fuel milage. If the wiring to the sensor is good replace the thermostat and ensure the coolant level is correct and that ther is no air in the system after servicing.

What exactly does max a/c and norm a/c do; the difference, and performance? What does recirc do and why is it available during max, norm, and bilev but not during defrost? The same a/c properties are...


Hello: Max cooling is when the recirculate door opens. With the recirculate door open, 80% of the air flow comes from inside of the car and 20% is outside air. That makes the cooling more efficient. Normal a/c operation is 100% of airflow comes from the outside. These settings have nothing to do with compressor operation. Also Decreasing or increasing the amount of cooling has nothing to do with compressor operation, what that does is control the amount of air going from the evaporator core either through or past the heater core. The a/c compressor runs the same amount of time regardless of settings on the control panel. Also in cool weather the compressor runs in the defrost mode to keep the windows from fogging up. None of these settings affect performance, the only time performance is affected is wide open throttle (WOT) in that mode the engine computer shuts off the compressor to allow max power of the engine, ie: passing gear.. When A/C is selected the compressor is on, none of the settings will affect gas mileage, ie, low/high, max/normal 60 degree or 90 degree.

Your tires as they wear will affect milage. Maybe an alignment check is do, All it takes is a couple PSI difference in the tire to loose a few miles per gallon.

A faulty tire guage may be decieving you.
Maybe you have different tires.

Maybe your need a good fuel injection service. Partially clogged injectors can decrease milage because fuel need to spray and become vapor to burn.
A restricted fuel injector will spit instead of spray.

You can do a search on problems with clogged injectors , and learn a little on it.

Dishwasher is not draining entirely after wash cycle


Most likely, the filter screen on the pump intake is partially blocked. This will also affect performance, since the same pump that drains the unit also re-circulates the water to wash the dishes.

It's less likely that the drain hose is partially blocked, but if wash performance is not affected, this could be the problem.

1994 ford explorer. takes a long time for heater to come on. Starts to warm up then goes cold.


It sounds like you may need to replace your thermostat. I am not very familiar with the explorers but in my experiences, there are high performance thermostats that open at a lower temperature. This is to keep the motor running cooler but it does affect the heater. Try that, i hope that helps you.

Sounds like the fan is not coming on when engine is geting hot.
Easiest way to check for fan operation is to drive car around the block to get engine warm--then park car and let it idle, open the hood,locate the fan and keep a visal eye on it ---and when the engine temperature comes up the fan should come on.You should be able to hear it too.If that's working,then its possible may have a partially plugged radiator or even a partilly opening engine thermostat,

Repeated full discharging robs the battery of its capacity (useful life), the Lithium Ion battery prefers shallow over repetitive deep discharge cycles. Besides cycling, the performance of the Li-ion is also affected by aging. Capacity loss through aging is independent of use however the capacity is affected by both aging and usage. Battery wear-down on lithium-based batteries is caused by two activities: actual usage or cycling and aging. The wear-down affects by usage and aging apply to all batteries but this is more pronounced on lithium-based systems. The Li-ion batteries prefer a shallow discharge. Partial discharges produce less wear than a full discharge and the capacity loss per cycle is reduced. Simple Guidelines to extend useful life of the battery Charge the Li-ion often, except before a long storage. Avoid repeated deep discharges. Keep the Li-ion battery cool. Prevent storage in a hot car. Never freeze a battery.
