Question about 2001 Harley Davidson FXDXT Dyna Super Glide T-sport

1 Answer

Need to replace clutch cable on a 2002 H-D Dyna, FXD. Are there "exploded" views of the clutch cable assembly showing how to remove and replace the cable from the clutch? The cable broke at the hand-grip connection. Now I need to "know" or learn how to disconnect the cable from the clutch assembly, and then tips for replacing it with the NEW cable... Jar Jar

To replace the cable, you are going to have to remove the cover on the end of the right side of the transmission. Just follow the cable and see where it goes into transmission. You may have to remove exhaust pipes to do this. The threaded cable end screws into this cover. If the handlebars are the stock type bars, simply replace with a stock cable. If the bars have been changed, you'll have to match the overall cable length to get the right cable.

Need to replace choke cable on 05 fxd dyna h/d

I thought I wrote this one up. But, you have to take the carb off to get the choke cable out. Once you get the carb off, you can take a 14mm wrench to remove the choke cable, swap the plunger and spring onto the new cable and reinstall it into the carb. Put the carb back on the engine.

How do i check the primary oil level

Stand the bike up as straight as possible safely. Remove the Derby cover at the clutch. When you look in you'll see the clutch assembly. It's made of aluminum but there's a black looking disc inside the outer clutch housing. This is the diaphragm sping. The oil level should be no higher than the lower edge of this spring. Too much oil can make you clutch feel like it's dragging and you won't be able to find neutral with the engine running.
