Inject some carb cleaner spray through the opened air filter while cranking.
Spark plugs work? timing on the camshafts ok?
Crank it without turning the throttle on.
Pull the choke cable if you need to.
It should fire up without throttle.
Use the carb cleaner spray to help it (don't spray too much.It will backfire from the carbs).

Changed both electric fuel pumps and also the fuel filter and had the carburetor overhauled when sits to long I have to crank it oer an over too start 86 R/V Ford 460

Air, fuel and spark are the 3 things you need to start and run. Too much or not enough fuel or not enough air will prevent starting. After you try starting, smell for excessive for fuel. A freshly rebuilt carb does not mean you are getting fuel from the tank to the carb. Fuel pump may not be working or the line couple be clogged. If you confirm fuel coming in, check for the spark. Pull spark plug from 1 cylinder, have a friend ready to attempt to start the vehicle. Use an insulated glove if available, but have the spark plug wire connected to that spark plug and hold the electrode of the spark plug close (not touching) the engine block. If you don't see a spark, something is not letting the electricity get through. Potential for bad rotor, distributor/cap and/or wires. On a vehicle that old, replacing all of those with new would probably be beneficial anyways. Clean out the fuel lines and add fuel additives to get your system in better condition. E3 spark plugs are great and everything you would need as at any Auto parts store.

Mower will not start. Seems like it is not getting gas. It will crank, but not run.

you may want to check the fuel pick-up and filter inside the fuel tank... sitting for long periods of time with gas in the system can create a 'shellacing' effect, effectively sealing the filter

just for fun, while you're cranking it put your hand over the intake of the carb completely covering it and see if your hand gets wet with gas. this might even start it too.

Car will crank but will not start. New battery and new starter installed. Gas line to carb. has gas and all 4 plugs have spark.

If you have spark, compression, and fuel, it should start.
Have you checked the compression or do you know for sure the timing belt is ok ?
Are the spark plugs wet or dry ?

Wont stay running

Hi, Ktatejr86 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.
11. Faulty fuel pump.

Craftsman LT2000 w/ 18.5 HP B&S engine- will not start-been sitting up for year in shed- new battery- checked fuel flow to carb: OK - checked spark plug: cleaned , seems OK- engine turns over but not...

A 'cranks but doesn't start" problem just needs to be narrowed down to compression, fuel,or ignition. The compression is pretty obvious-does it sound like the stater is getting a load when cranking? The next one is fuel-do you smell raw gas fumes coming out of the exhaust? The last one is spark-take the plug out and clamp it to the block, crank it,do you see a spark? If you have compression and spark, try a shot of starter fluid down the carb.(sometimes the float needle can get stuck, and just getting the engine to fire will shake it loose). If you don't have spark, then look for why(not sure if you have a magneto or ignition coil system).

Your fuel pump my still be pumping fuel But it my not be pumping with enough force to get it through the carb. I would try replacing the fuel pump.

85 Honda trx 125 ran great when parked, kids tried to start and no luck. Checked spark, seems really weak, getting fuel. Any suggestions?

Start with a fresh spark plug. Part of the spark may be traveling to ground via the carbon deposit on the ceramic electrode insulator. Drain the carb; condensation in the gas tank may have built up in the carb float bowl. Engines don't run well with water as fuel. While servicing the bike, clean the air filter and lube the cables.
