Its your fuel pump if you can't hear it. And its inside your tank. Not a hard fix if you have a book that tells you how to remove it. Alot of procedures to follow to get it right. And yes it does work off a relay.

SOURCE: harley davidson battery went dead after riding

1.What?

2.What?
You charged the battery off of the battery charger with a trickle charge. The battery wouldn't charge while you're riding, because your alternator took a cr@p.
(Sorry if I seem gruff, but I'm an old biker, and Harleys are all I ride. I'm also a Harley mechanic.
Shhhh! I don't want that to get around! lol!)

3.Battery is at 13.4 volts now? What is the specific gravity of the acid in each cell? Don't have a hydrometer? Do you have a load tester? No? Since you measured the voltage, do you have a multimeter?

Test the voltage with the bike running. It should be around 14.6 volts when charging, less with the battery fully charged.
Don't get the correct reading, then you better look at alternator replacement. (Regulator is built in)

SOURCE: setting hot idle for 2000 harley davidson

Idle speed on a fuel injected bike must me set by the dealer if it's still stock. I think you can set it yourself in you have a Power Commander on the bike but I don't know how to work with that unit.

SOURCE: 2002 Harley Davidson Electra Glide FLHTPI loses all electrical.

Professeur D is another of the people who just can't say "I don't know" or just be quiet. His comments are worthless. You don't say what the bike model or year is, but I bet it's a newer bike. I have an '02 FLHTCU with the engine juiced up a little and the rear cylinder really runs hot. The circuit breaker is located right over the rear cylinder, and since I have an oil temp gage I can see that when the temp hits 230 the breaker is going to open and shut all electrical off. I've changed breakers many times and the problem is still there and the dealers don't know what to do. I've been told by another rider that I should replace the circuit breaker with a fuse which will not be affected by temp. I'm going to look into that!

Download service manual for 2001 harley davidson dyna wide glide

Hi, Craig the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download except most 2000 and later Harleys and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. To download your manual please click on the links below and for specific information or questions at no charge please feel free to contact me at xlch@mail.com. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

02 classic loses all electrical power randomly while riding

I'm going to give you a solution based on personal experience.

I have a 1971 FLH, 1200cc. 16" front wheel, wide glide front end. One main breaker, for all power leading from the main switch on the dash.

I would ride for exactly 8 miles, and the bike would cut off.
Nothing. Nada. Just pull over to the side of the road, and let the circuit breaker cool off. (About the length of one cigarette) Then I'm on my way again for 8 miles.

Tore the seat off, rear wheel out, dash off, headlight nacelle apart, and started checking all wiring.
Found a few breaks in some of the insulation of the wires, found where someone used tape instead of heat shrink tubing. Fixed it. Tried riding again, same thing.

Went through a few more procedures. (I am a Harley mechanic on the older ones)
Finally one day I took the headlight out again, and looked for a short. (I had narrowed it down to something to do with the headlight)

Didn't see anything apparent again. Noticed this time though, that the plastic connector to the headlight, was open on the back.
All three terminals of the headlight, that went into that plastic socket, were exposed at the back.

Having just worked on my Chevy truck, I remembered that the plastic headlight socket, is Enclosed on the back.

Went back to my bike, looked REAL close with a flashlight, and saw a 1/8th inch black mark on the triple tree. The headlight terminals are too far away to create a short?

Removed the plastic headlight socket out of my truck, put it on the Harley.

Has Never quit on me since!

[Hey, we're talking my Harley to a truck! I did get another headlight socket for the truck later!]

Motorcycle wont start

Check the battery connections, especially if you hear a click just before it goes dead. I know that on my bike, when this happens, the screws that hold the battery cables in place have backed out and not getting a good contact. You would think that with a bad contact that it would stay dead when you turn the key off then back on, but oddly, everything comes back on normally until I hit the starter button. Check the cables.
