Take the complete broken key to a locksmith and they can make a good key from the broken one. They also maybe able to make a key from the ignition switch cylinder if you take it in.

2000 gmc sierra 1500 5.3L replaced motor and trans but it would not start with key alone what could be causing this it dose start but after a hot wire trick under the hood

One of the keys to the question will be how that hot wire is applied.
If it is across the starter, then you have a problem with the starter, the starter solenoid, the ignition switch, or the wiring, etc.
Know that the ignition switch is not the key switch on the column, it is an electrical switch roughly in the location of your knee when you drive.
I would guess someone accidentally cut a wire, unhooked something, or left a ground wire undone when they did the motor./transmission work if all this worked before the swap was done.
God bless your efforts.

Tractor will start and run, but only if you're holding the key like you're starting it. If you let go the tractor dies???? 2006 Kubota L2800 Hydrostatic 4x4

look for a wire/switch problem from the run side of the starter switch to the ignition control module
what you have is this
when it is in start the power is to the starter as well as to the ignition module
when the engine stats and you let go of the switch, power to the starter is cut but a new circuit to the ignition module is engaged to give power for ignition
by letting go of the switch ,the circuit for power to the ignition module is broken
find that break in the circuit ( wire or ignition switch) and the problem will be solved

I have a 2008 Mazda tribute when I put the key in and turn it it lights up as normal but when I turn it to crank it nothing happens... In the pass I would put the key in while turning it and it would crank...

It could be any of several things. I would start out with some basic testing. Battery good? If yes, then ignition switch. When you turn the key, it makes a connection from the key switch to the solenoid. Check with a test light at the switch and at the solenoid (on top of the starter). If no light at the started, try running a wire from the battery to the solenoid. Does it click/turn over? If no, then maybe starter. .

It's rather like a chain. If all the links are good, then it will start. If any of the links are broken, then it won't. Sometimes a "click" can help you identify where that chain is broken.

Most cars have an ignition chip on their ignition key. This is an anti-theft feature. If it gets damaged or your ignition switch doesn't read it properly your car won't start. Everything else will work your engine just wont crank over. You can replace the ignition switch and key or you could bypass this theft feature. Talk to a mechanic to locate your ignition wire under the dash near the steering column. You can get a resistor (at Radio Shack) that matches the resistance of your key. Cut the ignition wire and put the resistor in its place to reconnect the cut wire. If you cut the right wire and the resistor matches your key you can trick your onboard computer to allow the car to start. This is what I did rather than replacing the switch. Cost of this fix less than $3.00 this way.

All three Ignition keys will not turn over engine. pass key fault light on. engine will start with key on and use of remote starter switch. starts then shuts off

you will need to replace the ignition switch. the wires running from switch have broken very small wires. common it is not seeing the key chip and causing security to go in theft mode

Ignition wont start

Check for power on the thin wire going to the solenoid when ignition is turned al the way to start possition,if so it probably won't be the same voltage as your battery, it will be lower.
You need to fit a universal relay so that the solenoid gets the same voltage as the battery when measured with a multimeter between the negative and positive poles.
If no power present on the thin wire with key turned to start possition, there is a wiring problem or broken (thin wire) from ignition switch to the solenoid.
If ignition switch is wired correctly, check if power is transfered from one of the thicker wires to the thin wire feeding the solenoid when key is turned to the start possition, on the ignition switch where the wirng is connected.
