Drive Hub Assembly Replacement for Stairmaster 4000PT Stepper

Stairmaster Stepper Drive Hub Assembly Replacement
  1. Remove the side covers.
  2. Remove the step chain retainers.
  3. Supposrt the pedal arm. Unhook the pedal arm return spring from the spring hanger. Lift the step chain up and off the clutch sprocket and lower the pedal arm to the floor. Repeat on the other side.
  4. Remove the snap ring from the left end of the drive shaft. WARNING: To reduce the risk of eye injury, wear eye protection when removing snap rings.
  5. Remove the drive chain.
  6. Remove the sprocket and other small parts from the left side of the hub assembly.
  7. Slide the drive shaft to the right, out of the hub assembly. If you remove the right-hand clutch sprocket form the drive shaft, do not confuse it with the left-hand clutch sprocket.
  8. Loosen and remove the two remaining bolts and nuts that hold the hub assembly to the frame. Remove the hub assembly.
  9. Inspect the drive shaft, bushings, thrust washers, and clutch sprockets for excessive wear or pitting. Replace any worn components.
  10. To reinstall the hub assembly, carefull reverse the disassembly procedures. Be sure that the right- and left-hand clutch sprockets are positioned correctly; the wide shoulder of the sprocket should be facing away from the hub on both sides.
  11. Chain Tension. The drive shaft is mounted in an eccentric hub. Rotate the hub so the marked hole is in the 12 o'clock posistion, lining up four holes in th hub with the four holes in the frame. Use this hub position when reinstalling the drive chain since the distance between the drive and the transmission shafts is at a minimum. The hub is in the proper position when the drive chain has a total of 1" to 1-1/2" of play, up and down, at the slackest point in the chain. If it is necessary to increase the tension or tighten the chain, rotate the hub counter clockwise until the chain has proper tension.
  12. Reinstall the covers.

One day i was comin off the exit ramp downshifted in order to come to the stoplight. I was at a complete stop and put the bike in first gear. The engine revved as i let go of the clutch but there was no...

It will not be a bent shift fork. If the clutch lever feels the same pulling the lever in and out as it did before the problem came up then chances are the clutch is okay. Does the lever at the gearbox move properly when the hand lever is moving in and out? Is the clutch cable hanging up on something? I think you are going to find either a broken woodruff key on the gear at the right end of the crankshaft or clutch plates hanging up on the clutch hub. The broken key would prevent power from going to the ring gear on the outer clutch hub. The clutch plates can wear grooves into the clutch inner and or outer hubs. Too deep a groove and the plates can be unable to be compressed by the clutch springs. The result is no power being transmitted through the clutch. Another possibility is a broken shift shaft arm or arm spring. The right engine side cover will need to be removed so you can then do a visual inspection of the crankshaft gear, clutch hub and shift shaft lever. If I knew the year and model and engine size of your Yamaha bike I could offer more exact diagrams. The one below are generic. Go to www.babbittsonline.com and you can see an exploded view of your specific engine. Please rate my answer. tombones49_92.gif

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ7533JQ1 washing machine. It agitates and drains but does not spin. I checked the motor coupling is not worn out nor broken. This is a two speed washing machine. ...

This is a neutral drain direct drive machine which drains the water first prior to spinning. After draining out the water completely, the motor pauses then restarts to spin the tub. It is possible that the problem is in the lid switch. If the motor is running during the spin cycle then the lid switch is good, otherwise it is indeed the problem.

The problem can be either in the brake particularly the cam driver or the clutch assembly. The clutch hub is attached to the spin pinion gear and as the spin pinion gear turns, the clutch hub also turns. The clutch lining is forced against the clutch hub by the clutch spring. As the clutch hub turns, friction between it and the clutch lining causes the clutch lining to turn. As the clutch turns, the tab that holds the clutch spring on the lining, contacts the brake cam driver, releasing the brake. The tab on the clutch lining remains in contact with the brake cam driver, holding the brake released and then providing power to the spin tube through the brake release.

jahn27_59.jpg

The basket will not spin if the brake cam driver is broken because the brakes cannot be released. If the clutch spring is weak, the friction between the clutch hub and the clutch lining is not sufficient for the clutch tab to push the cam driver and release the brakes.

Check and replace, if necessary, the brake cam driver and the clutch assembly particularly the clutch spring and the clutch lining.

Knocking from the clutch!!what could it be?

The only thing I can think of is a broken gear tooth on the outer clutch hub. Remove the right engine side cover and check the clutch hub and the crankshaft drive gear.

Whirlpool washing machine clutch replacement

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. For servicing the clutch you’ll need to first remove the gear case. The gear case can be removed by first removing the outer cabinet. After removing the cabinet, remove the pump and motor assembly. Now carefully lay down the washer on its back and remove the 3 bolts securing the gear case. Now pull the gear case straight out from the tube support assembly. Now, compress the clutch spring with a pair of pliers and lift the lining from the clutch hub. To remove entire clutch assembly begin by removing the spin tube thrust washer up & off the agitator and then remove the tube support ring. Remove the retainer ring and lift the clutch hub up and off spin pinion.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Kawasaki ninja zx9r clutch problem

On your bike there are two clutch parts that can wear and cause this problem. The broken spring should be replaced but is not causing the problem. Check the bottom of the clutch release shaft #13102. The end of the shaft may be broken, bent or severely worn. The part the shaft engages with is the clutch rod #46102. It could be bent, broken or severely worn. This part is inside the clutch hub. Just remove the five springs and then the outer cover plate and the rod should be accessible.

Intermittent A/C operation

I think your a/c clutch is going. If it works for a while and cuts out, the electrci clutch is getting hot and losing the ability to stay clamped.
Sometimes, you can shim the clutch so it's less of a gap to close. Or, replace the clutch.
