if you turned the key with the ignition with the imobilizer, you now have to get the right ignition and a new PCM because the PCM now thinks the car has SKIM (imobilizer)
If there is a blinking car icon with an "X" over it. This icon means the Immobilizer has been activated and hence won't allow the car to start. It could be due to a bad SCU, Start Control Unit. The SCU is actually the ignition switch on these cars. Most of the time it's triggered by the anti-theft system..You can try this trick i learned that the dealers won't tell you...try locking and unlocking of the doors five times with the remote to reset the immobilizer and see if this helps. Good luck..i hope this helps...please take a minute to rate me a fixya.
The key icon is not the check engine light but the immobilizer light, therefore the car wont start. I have the same issue with my 03 Tiburon after i changed the motor and tranny. It ran fine for a couple of days and the quit. I took towed the car to a dealership and they stated I needed a new BCM for $1200. However, I got a used BCM from an auto wrecker and will get the dealership to program it for about $200.
Fcuk I got same problem with my Mazda 3 year 2004. Noone can help me at all !!! Even in Mazda they have no idea where is problem. For me it is at the moment only in cold weather. I cannot get throught immobilizer. After few turns it works, but not always (only when its bit warmer). I found out that if it is warmer, and I turn on ventilation for a while after it will let me go! Immobilizer starts flashing ... after few more minutes and turning key few times it will let me go !!! Please write me to [email protected] if you will know updates... I am desperate , cannot use my car in winter at all or cold weather. In summer works fine
i recently had the problem with the immobilizer after mo 03 jetta battery had died after speaking with the dealer they said i would have to tow it to them. yeah a 160 miles after reading several blogs i put the battery charger back on put the key in the ignition and turned it to the on position and left it for @ 20 minutes when i returned the immobilizer light was out i then cycled the key off and back on the light came on then went out as it should then proceeded to crank the engine over and it fired without problems and seems to be fin now......curse greedy dealers
