They do make rebuild kits for petcocks. Just going to depend on if they make one for your motorcycle or not. I did do a quick search for Harley petcock rebuild kits and they do make them.

SOURCE: Fuel shut off valve

Recent shut off valves don't have an off position anymore it's been replaced with PRi which is prime..The petcock lever has a long side and a short side.w/long side pointed down that is ON..long side up that is RESERVE..halfway between is PRIME which is used when cycle has sat for a long time or has run out of is not used anymore cause the petcock is vacuum actuated and only lets gas flow when engine is running...except for PRIME, these should all be printed/stamped on your petcock...Good luck to you friend....Tim

Replace the petcock. The rubber diaphragm is ruptured. I'd also bet your fuel mileage dropped cause the ruptured diaphragm is allowing raw fuel to be sucked into the intake manifold.

SOURCE: 2003 yamaha roadstar leak fuel sometimes after I

Yes Rick, try a couple of tricks I know.First, open the carburettor drain screw located at the base of the carburettor, this lets fuel flow out of the carburettor drain located next to/under it.(To acces this drain screw look between the engine cylinders from the LEFT of the bike)While the fuel is draining out,tap the fuel bowl.Next re-tighten the carby drain screw and see how that goes.I would suspect your bike has a vacumatic fuel tap that has 3 positions on it.1 marked on, 1 marked res, 1 marked pri.If the fuel leaks occur when in the on or res position this means part of your problem is a leaking diaphram in the fuel tap.Replace this & when engine isn't running,no fuel can flow to the carby when it's in the on or reserve positions. After ensuring the tap is ok, and trying the first trick,if it still leaks, well then you'll have to pull off the carby and give the needle and seat a clean.
Hope this healps Regards Andy Porrelli

SOURCE: fuel leaking from carb from over flow tube

Sounds like the float is sticking, you can get card cleaner from motor shops that you spray inro the airbox (remove filter first)while running the engine, otherwise you will need to remove and clean the carb. Examine idle and main mixture adjustment screws and O-Rings for cracks and damage. Check inlet needle and seat for condition and proper installation. For detail about carbs check here-->

SOURCE: 1996 honda magna vf750 fuel pump, need rebuild kit

Your model 95 or 96 VF750 Magna does not have a fuel pump. I believe the part you are talking about is the vacuum fuel petcock assembly. The part is only sold from Honda as an assembly. The part number is # 16970-MZ5-003 and runs about $120.

Why is my carburetor leaking fuel after I turn off my motor

It is most likely that your shut off valve is leaking (as fuel flow should be shut off with no vacuum applied to it). If the float level is okay, and it must be set very precisely at 0.413 - 0.453 inches with the carb tilted no more than 20 degrees and no less than 15 degrees, (if the float level is the problem such that the fuel supply would be too high in the float bowl and depending on how far out it is set ie how high the fuel is allowed to rise in the float bowl it would likely be leaking out the overflow and not the carburetor itself). As unlikely as it would be to have fuel flowing out the accelerator pump circuit and discharge port you would easily be able to identify such a leak by seeing it flow out of the accelerator pump discharge port in the front part of the carb throat. If the needle and seat are not sealing and fuel flow was available from the shut off valve as it should not be with no vacuum applied to it then it would not matter that the float level was set correctly because it would continue to flow past the needle ans seat when the float had risen to the proper shut off point. In this case it might leak out of the main discharge port before the level became high enough for it to leak out of the overflow or it might leak out both. It is doubtful that a defective enrichener would cause a leak because the fuel would have to rise to high to emerge from the enrichener discharge ports. It might leak out the off idle discharge ports but these are behind the venturi piston and the butterfly valve so you would have to raise the former and open the latter to see if fuel was emerging from these ports. I have not dealt much with H-D CV carbs but my understanding of them leads me to suggest the above. SO, a leaking carb with the engine shut off is most likely to be a result of a defective fuel tank valve so first remove the fuel hose from the shut off valve and see if there is fuel draining from the nipple at the valve or if you take it off at the carb if there is any fuel leaking out of the fuel line you removed from the carb.....There should be no fuel flow with the engine off and no vacuum. If there is no fuel flow here there should be no fuel flow from the carb unless the float level is out and the fuel level in the float bowl has risen too high before the fuel valve shut of fuel flow. Even so the fuel leak should not be continuous but only as much as there was fuel in the fuel line and carb downstream of the shut off valve. If the leak is continuous you know the valve is the first problem and then you also have a float level setting that is out allowing too much fuel into the float bowl and/or the needle and seat are not sealing and shutting off the flow when the float rises to the proper shut off height. Or, you could have a gasket leak at the float bowl. If there is no fuel flow from the fuel shut off valve and the float level is correct there likewise should be no flow from the accelerator pump (or any other circuit) because the fuel level would never be high enough to flow out the discharge the accelerator discharge or other ports. Remember that the accelerator pump check valve only operates when the fuel is being forced out of the accelerator pump circuit ie the valve does not stop or control fuel flow into the accelerator pump diaphragm area, it only stops flow back to the float bowl area when fuel is being pressurized to force fuel up and out the discharge port. I hope this helps somewhat in diagnosing your leak.

2005 1200 s. Since not being ridden for 6 to 8 weeks, gas has leaked into crank case.Fuel tap has no shut off,so I assume there must be a vaccume activated diafram,of sorts,in the tap.Could this be...

Either the vacuum operated petcock is stuck in the flow position as well as a float needle is stuck in the open position. Two things would have to be wrong so that the fuel would over flow the carburetors and run past the piston rings into the crankcase. Or, more likely, the vacuum diaphragm inside the fuel petcock is leaking and the fuel is flowing down the vacuum line into the engine. I would start by inspecting the vacuum fuel petcock. If you unplug the vacuum line and gas is dripping from the vacuum line then you will need to rebuild or replace the fuel petcock.

My polaris 500 fan cooled snowmobile keeps getting air in the gas line after the shutoff valve ,berfore the fuel pump..making it bog out

Replace your fuel lines or the fuel shut off valve if that is where the leak is. If you are still getting air in the lines after the fuel line replacement after try a fuel pump rebuild kit.

Where is the reset button for the emergency shut off valve for the gas line

After a collision, if the engine cranks but does not start, the fuel pump shut-off switch may have been activated. The shut-off switch is a device intended to stop the electric fuel pump when your vehicle has been involved in a substantial jolt.

If your vehicle is a sedan, the fuel pump shut-off switch is located on the right side of the trunk behind the trunk liner.

If your vehicle is a wagon, the fuel pump shut-off switch is located behind the service panel on the right side of the cargo area.

Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by pushing in on the reset button.
4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and return the key to the OFF position.
5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this).

FJ1100 is running a little bit rough and fuel is leaking out of #2 carb fuel over flow hose

It looks as if you'll need to rebuild your carbs. As for No. 2 cylinder it would appear the float is stuck down not shutting off the fuel supply. This may be a mechanical issue with the carb or simply some build up not allowing the valve to shut off completely. I'd pick-up a rebuild kit, remove the carbs, tear them down and clean them up.
I hope this may have helped
PS: Great bike!

Check engine light code PO442

You likely won't notice any drivability problems. P0442 indicates a fuel vapor leak in the EVAP control system. It means a very small leak has been detected. In fact, the leak can be from a hole as small as 0.04" in diameter.
The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage.
Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

With a P0442, the most common repair is to Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses.

Good luck and hope this helps
