Question about 1999 kawasaki VN 1500 Vulcan Classic

I have a 1999 1500 nomad and it cranks over but no spark  I took off side cover on the motor  to see if the stator was in there and it was wet with a little oil I DID NIT KNOW IF there should even be totaly dry or if a seal is going out and it shorted out something

Oil is not a problem.You must check the Ohms resistance in the coils and also check the pick up sensor for proper Volt supply.

I have found that the jet ski will start prior to entering the water, but as soon as I launch the ski will not start...unless I remove the air filter case cover.? Any idea why this can happen?

Your stator sounds like it maybe not supplying enough ignition spark when the motor is under a load. When you put the ski in the water the motor is under much more of a load then when out of the water or on a trailer. Those are the signs of a stator going bad. Another option would be leaking crank seals. The seals need to hold pressure to pump the fuel to the motor. Sometimes the crank seals can burn up the stator if the seals are leaking. You can remove the flywheel cover and to inspect for a leaky front crank seal. It should be dry inside, but if it is all oily and wet, your seals are leaking.

I have a 2001-2002 Polaris 2x4 sportsman with a spark only every once in a while when hitting the starter switch if you roll it over and over it has no spark ive baught a aftermarket cdi box no change what...

sounds to me if it will spark once and thats it. than your stator pickup hapened to go bad ive had it happen to me randomly on multiple atvs of mine or customers. look at the motor find the group of wire that lead into the engine side caseing remove the cover and you will see a circle shaped peice with copper windings all around it. either that peice is bad or the litlle black peice of plastic thats bolted down just beside it is bad. you can use a multimeter to check the wires but i dont know the specs. but the stator pickup is commonly the problem.

I pulled off my stator cover and spune the motor over on accident can this throw off the timming

If you just took the stator cover off then no, turning the motor over wont affect timing.

the stator will be inside the left crank-case cover.

How to check stater on 1992 honda shadow

Locate the wire harness coming out of the stator on the left crank case cover of the motor and follow it to the plug with three yellow wires. This is the stator plug. You should have continuity between any combination of the three yellow wires, but no continuity between any of the yellow wires and ground. If the stator yellow wires are grounding you will have to replace the stator. To replace the stator remove the left crank case cover and unbolt the stator from the inside of the cover. Do not forget to purchase a new left cover gasket with the new stator or you will just delay your riding.

Disconnect battery ground cable first, for replace stator motor you must need to lift up the car for get space to go under the car stator motor at left side the engine, then remove under cover of engine compartment, after that you can see the stator motor behind the left side engine mount, then remove main wire from stator motor and also solenoid wire, next remove two bolts for stator motor from bell housing and pull stator motor out and take out between trans mission and chassis rail you can see where you can get space to take it out, when you install back do the reverse order. is this information helped you? if yes please leave a comment.

I took apart the hole motor to replaced the crank and crank bearings, how do i adjust a stator on a 2003 RM 125. And the cluch is hard to put in first with out stalling but after it warms no problems

There is no adjustment on the stator. I am not clear about the clutch problem. Colud you go into more detail on the problem? Don't re-post the problem, just reply.

On My 1999 Kawasaki LS 650 I'm trying to find TDC

hello, should be able to stick a rag, or get somebody hold finger over spark plug hole bump the engine over till rag, or finger blows off spark plug hole, take cover off top engine left side, small cover on timing gear, their should be a mark inside, where you took off small cover, it should look like a point, gear should have mark on it or the timing chain should have a different colored link, once you find them,make sure they are aligned, go to left side of motor, stator side, take small plug of the stator cover and see where your numbers or mark on the flywheel is, you might have to check with dealer to see what your timing marks are on flywheel,most atv, motorcycles have timing mark inside the hole, where you take cam gear cover off, it will look like a point, it is about in the 10 oclock or eleven oclock posistion, soon as you take cover off, you should see it, usually when piston comes up on tdc, it will blow air out of spark plug hole, if you can turn motor over with hand little bit at a time, stick screw driver in spark plug hole see if piston is up high as it will go, remember turn key off, and start switches,

magneto stator can also be a solution check for AC power from stator while cranking the motor use sta-bil winterizing fluid to insure piston where during cranking process spray directly into spak plug holes with spark plus out 4 sprays into each cylinder should be enough crank motor without plugs for reduced compression and more cranking amps

Engine want crank

an IC (internal combustion ) engine is dependent on the spark timing for initial start (crank).here since most of it was remanufactured , the spark timing is at fault.
TIME the spark a few degrees before TDC and see the difference .i hope this solves your problem.
