As the ecu is designed to have the correct power curve and rev limiter for each motor. unless you can find ecu from similar engine take into account rev range or you may risk serious damage, but it is possible.

Is an 81 and a98 honda civic motor innerchangable

Part wise for the two engines, no. As for an engine swap, yes a 98 will fit in an 81 and other way around. But this will always include slight modifications to engine and transmission mounts. You will need to take the ECU and fuel system from the 98 . it's not an easy task.

Driving my honda 2001 crv and it just lost power and now wont start

I would check the Ignitor. This is a common problem, they often become heat saturated which causes a failure to deliver spark. Do not pull a plug and ground it unless you have a resistive spark tester. If you do you may end up with a fried ignitor if you don't already have one

Ignitor wont glow

It might be cracked or broken. I would carefully remove it (don't drop it), and put an ohmmeter across the contacts. You should get a reading of 500 ohms or less, but not 0 (meter leads shorted to each other).

If the reading is higher, either you don't have the meter leads actually touching the terminals, or the part faulty.

But if it's not faulty, then the ignitor's power source is not feeding it electricity. In this case, the heat sensing circuit may be bad, usually caused by a faulty thermostatic device.

There also may be a loose wire connection inside the unit.

You can test all of the above with a voltmeter. Put the leads, one in each terminal on the ignitor socket, and have someone else start the dryer.

It probably won't work with the ignitor removed, but there should be a slight jump on the volt meter if the circuit is working properly.

I usually don't bother with all that. There's far fewer different ignitor elements than there are appliances that use them, so you can almost always find the one you need in stock, in town.

Take the old one along. Some parts distributors will test the one you bring in, because if they didn't, they wouldn't know what's going on.

If the ignitor is good, they usually know which part failed, because parts guys know which parts fail most on any appliance.

Had new kitchen worktops fitted day later got badly scratched with builder sliding tool box across it now he has scribed the scratches with half a bottle of cream jif now not sure how to fix

Don't accept it. It is the builders responsibility. Just don't pay until you get a new benchtop or a payment reduction equal to that.

Slight scratches in laminate can sometimes be fixed (almost) with mild cut car polish, but I can't see you even need to accept that, it was pure carelessness.

My 91 honda civic dx hatchback which is an auto dont wanna seem to switch gears and revs! i dont know what to do

I would try to have the transmission flushed and filled with new transmission fluid for about $100 or so. If this doesn't solve the problem, a rebuild is indicated, if you plan on keeping the car. Or, you could alternatively buy a used transmission that fits your engine and car combination, that doesn't have this problem.

Good luck on this repair.

1991 Honda Civic just died as I was driving it sputtered a little like it was going to stall out and I turned a corner and the "check engine" light came on and it was dead. It will turn over but it seems...

Very common problem on Civics of this age. The distributor has failed. Take the dizzy cap off and if the ignitor module is fried inside, or there is black plastic shards then it's time for a new one. You can buy the ignitor separately but it's almost easier to buy a whole unit.

Don't buy one from Honda, they will take all of your money and you'll still owe them. Get one from eBay with a warranty. If the new one comes with a plastic screw to hold the rotor arm down, change it for a metal one as it will smash itself to pieces. In the UK there is a company called Probe who still haven't worked out why they get so many returned parts.

Hope this helps and please vote for me if you think I've helped. Thanks

If you want a great point and shoot, you can't beat the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. If you're interested in an SLR, then I highly recommend the Pentax K7.
