Starter sits on the front left side of the engine... long (7" ?) cylinder with two bolts. Just pull it out... all the guts are housed inside it.

SOURCE: how to lower the idle on a 2002 yamaha 650 v-star classic?

under the left side of the gas tank you will see i black knob/screw at the end of what looks like a hose. the knob faces the rear of bike. that adjusts the idle. its real easy to find and the only adjustment you can make to the carbs.

SOURCE: 1999 Yamaha Vstar 650 Custom ...makes clicking noise when trned

i use a jump box on mine most weekends when i wanna take it out, i hook the red to battery and black onto my exhaust and it fires right up no problem. is the clicking noise coming from the fuel pump behind the ignition? it should click for a few seconds then stop. if it stays on then you are not getting enough fuel outta the tank, change the fuel filter and if bike had been stored for winter get a good fuel system cleaner, additive type. if in USA get Berrymans B12, double dose get bike to run hopefully let it stand overnight and all should be fine. fingers crossed. if is is clicking from somewhere else like starter or a relay by the battery, check all the ground terminals you can find

SOURCE: where is oil filter located on 650 v-star yamaha

The oil filter is on the right side
under a cover with 3 screws in it.
Remove the covers and replace the filter
and the o-ring on the cover.
Watch which way it goes in
when removing it.

SOURCE: 2006 Yamaha Vstar custom starter issue

The one way clutch that engages the starter motor to the flywheel is chattered or damaged and needs to be replaced. The starter motor turns a small gear that is connected to a large gear by a small chain. On the side of the big gear is a smooth machined surface that the one way clutch grabs when the starter is engaged. The surface is chattered and the three grabber rollers wont jam or grab on the surface unless it is smooth therefore the starter spins but the motor does not. You will probably have to replace the large gear and possibly the three rollers also.

SOURCE: remove rear wheel from yamaha 650 v star

The final drive has a spline shaft. Raise the rear wheel off the ground , loosen the rear axle nut, take out the axle bolt, knock out the spacer , unbolt the rear brake caliper and hang it so you do not stress the brake hose ( unhook the brake rod and unbolt the stabilizer rod for drum brakes) , grab the wheel, and slide it sideways away from the final drive. The wheel should slide right off the spline of the final drive and roll out the back under the fender. If the wheel won't slide past the final drive let the air out of the tire. Be sure to coat the spline of the final drive with moly60 paste from your local Honda dealer when reassembling.

How to drain the fork oil on a 2004 yamaha vstar 650?

There's large nut at the top of each fork... be careful removing them, there's a spring on the other side (in the tubes)!!!!
Loosen the pinch bolts of the upper tree first to release tension on the tubes.

My wifes 650 Yamaha vstar custom's battery is dead. if i charge it is there a starter relay switch that i will need to change out as well? and should i charge it at 6 amps or 12?

If the starter relay is working properly after you install the fully charged battery, and that means engaging when you hit the button, then there's no reason to replace it. Unless you just want to replace it with something better.

I bought a 2004 yamaha v star custome 650 but the ignition coils were missing how do i put the new ones back in

From what I recall, they are accessed by removing the seat.

Take off the Pillion seat to reveal the nut for the driver's seat. Remove this and then you should have exposed the coils (amongst other things).
