Question about 1980 Suzuki Gs 550 L

2 Answers

I bought a used one with a blinker not working. I tried to find out where the connection was bad. Now the electric start doesn't work along with all of the blinkers. Headlight and taillight still work properly. I don't know what to disconnect and test to tell me where the problem is. I have a multi-meter and tools. The bike was just running last week before I felt I had to solve the blinker problem by myself.

I just had this problem also, Mine was related to the ground wires. Check the ones one the rear blinkers first, they should be on the inside of the rear fender. My starter, I just bridged the selinoid on mine with a screw driver a couple of times, then it worked just fine.

Hi there,

It seems like that there must be the green (earth) wire miss from the place.
It's good that you know how to use a multi-meter.
check the green wire using this multi-meter.

Good Luck!!

1967 el camino turn signals not working properly, right flasher works off battery only

You are checking symptoms not 'the problem.'
The problem is you have no voltage to the blinkers. Start at the first place you have power to the wiring to the blinkers and follow the wires to the socket. Somewhere along the way your voltage is disappearing due to a bad connection, broken/cut wire, corroded connection.
Make sure you check the turn signal flasher. It's that little metal canister that makes the click sound.

Sounds like a bad ground connection, probably in the back. You'll need to find the bad connection. Or if you can figure out which wire is the ground wire, connect it via a new ground wire to the body.

Typically, your symptoms are caused by a poor ground connection. These connections, once corroded give the hit and miss service you are describing. If you are into self-repairs, trace the ground wires back to where they are bolted to the frame. Remove each ground wire, scrub it up along with that spot on the frame, give it a squirt of electrical contact spray and reconnect it. J.

'05 Chevrolet Malibu - Front Right Blinker is not Working

You need to check for power coming out of the turn signal switch with a test light, or voltmeter. On older Chevys, the R/F turn signal wire is dark blue. Check the color of your wire at the bulb socket, then locate the turn signal switch connector, and probe that color wire with the ignition switch on, and turn signal switch in the right position. If you have power coming out of the T/S switch, you have bad connection, or open circuit between it and the bulb socket.

The K relay or headlight relay goes bad in these and control all the lights and the bulb out indicator. It should be in the fuse box or under the screwed down cover connected to the fuse box.
The starter not working is the neutral safety switch on the transmission, when it goes bad cannot be started. It is a sefty feature to allow car not to be started in anything but park or neutral.
The electric windows maybe old dirty switches, remove the center console wood and move the good switch around and see if they work.

97 f-250 diesel blinkers and ABS light

If your low beams work it's not the multi-function switch located on your steering column (two bolts and a plug). If you unplug the abs sensor on the rear differential and the ABS stays on and your blinkers work and you don't blow fuses could be the sensor. However, if this is not it you may have a ground problem (micro-friction). Usually these two systems are not connected and these may be completely different issues.
Possible Scenario: aftermarket stereo installed incorrectly.
Scenario Two: both of these sytems have bare wires and touch every so often causing your grounding problem. (There is a fuse-vibration testing technique that can be used to find the bare-wire(s))
Try to fix the blinker problem first you may find the ABS problem along the way (common wires of Blinker/ABS bundled together.
Trace and inspect.

Hope this helps--
