Question about Yamaha YZF-R6 Motorcycles
My 08 yzf r6 has 17,900 miles and when i'm riding and coming to a stop it will most of the time idle at 900 rpm or lower then other times bike will cut out. This happens when bike is warmed up and will sometimes idle where it should be. I know the bike has its own Diagnostic and the bike checks out ok. Need some help solving this issue?
This is usually a fuel problem. The bike is running either too lean or too rich. Check your spark plugs -- if there's black carbon on the tips, the fuel/air mixture is too rich and needs to be leaned out. If they're white, it's running too lean. If they're tan, there's some other issue. Clean or replace the air filters and check your inline fuel filter (if you have one) to make sure there are not clogs or obstructions.

When you are on the bike and riding do you still have the choke out? And stop spraying starter fluid into the carbs..bad bad bad.... bikes start with out that stuff and if you need it then something is wrong.. your gonna mess something up doing that....let me know about the choke and we will go from there...firstname.lastname@example.org

SOURCE: idle engine cuts out
You need to get to the idle screw on your carb and srew it in until your idle raises up a bit, also put some Techroline (chevron) in your gas tank...1/2 bottle in Full tank.....Good luck to you friend....Tim

Since the bike is new, chances are strong that fuel IS the problem.
Also chances are that the carb is perfectly fine. Since the bike is new I'll bet yoy have washed it several times already. The dealer may have washed it also. Fuel is the problem because bikes do not run well on water.
Drain the carb. Remove the water trap bowl on the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Look at the gas in the bowl. Any water in the bottom of the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the petcock. any water in the cup? I am very hopefull this will fix the problem. With a new bike and a clean carb and fuel system not much else should be wrong.

Sounds like you have either got water in the system or poor connections.
You can use something like dielectric grease on each connector. It is a bit of a pain having to open and close each connector on your bike, but once you've done it, you shouldn't need to do it again for a long, long time.

SOURCE: 83 suziki GS450 idle issues
the problem with the rubber was close but on the gs450 there is a metal insert that even if the rubber was rotted away the metal seals aginst the head so it cant leak. the problem is on the gs 450 suzuki used a cheap throttle cable that kinks behind the gas tank and kinks at the bend to the crabs under the set and the throttle system is a pull only not a dual cable pull push to always close the throttle. if you start the bike a wiggle the bend in the cable that comes out from the twist grip you will see it changes the idle. with either your finger or a screw driver and push the plate down on the carbs that the cable connects too. if the idle drops this conforms your problem. order a new cable from dennis kirk they have the revised one that has metal adjustment screw and metal clip in. better jacket casing as well.
