Either you got the wrong type plugs (too cold) and/or that bike is running way too rich! Time to use a tool like ColorTune to get to the bottom of it. Who normally works on this bike? If you don't do the work yourself, then better to take it to a reputable shop/mechanic.

SOURCE: new spark plugs last 10-15 minutes of riding

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the only factor to be checked that could foul a sparkplug for your bike would be the 2T oil injector/pump. There is too much 2T oil going to the combustion chamber. Either the injector would require restricting or for some reason, there is also 2T oil in the fuel tank (pre-mix).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

SOURCE: Black plugs

Black Plugs are indicating that your bike is running too rich(too much fuel to air mixture) you need to have the carburator adjusted, more air.Good Luck.

KTM 105 SX spark plug fails every ride???

Hi, Sagi nice novella and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel mixture too rich or enrichner left out too long.
2. Faulty spark plug.
3. Incorrect spark plug for the engine type or service.
4. Piston rings badly worn or broken.
5. Valve guides are badly worn and/or seals worn, crushed or have come off the valve guide and are pumping oil through it.
6. Spark plug cable weak or leaking check for spark jump in the dark.
7. Faulty ignition coil.

When my bike runs for about 1/2 hour it wont stay running and wont restart until the bike cools down. it has the 1200 kit and s&s carb kit. I just replaced the coil and I still have the problem. What...

When it quits running, you've got to figure out why it quit running. An engine needs three things to make it run. Compression, fuel, and ignition. I doubt you've lost compression so it has to be one of the other two.

Take an extra spark plug with you. When it cuts off, plug the spare plug into a plug wire and ground it to the engine. Spin the engine with the starter and watch for a spark. If you don't have a spark, the problem is in your ignition system.

Also, you didn't tell me what year model your bike was. If it's later than 1996, it may still have the vacuum operated petcock on it. These petcocks are notorious for failing. You can identify one of these petcocks as they are square on the backside and have a small vacuum hose run to them. If they aren't opening wide enough due to a hole in the diaphragm, you'll run out of gas in the carb even though you've got a full tank of fuel. I suggest that owners still using these should replace them with a high quality manually operated petcock like a Pingel.

Also, you could have a defective tank vent in your fuel cap causing a vacuum to build up in the fuel tank. Loosen the fuel cap the next time you ride the bike and see if it makes a difference. Don't take the cap off unless you like being doused with gasoline. Just loosen it so it can get air into the tank.

Good Luck'
Steve

You need to change the spark plug here say if it is a BR 8ES (NGK) then move on to BR 6ES and if that fail then move to BR 10ES..I use to do racing and its to do with playing with that until it is sorted..Now you may also have a faulty coil, faulty spark plug cap or something else here.It may not necessarily mean it is the spark plug.

buddy you have to get your bike to an authorized service personnel to tune your air filter and fuel screw since these are like lungs and heart for the bike.any self adjust of these things may lead to unwanted consequences.(mostly get your carb cleaned since even moisture or water wash may caused water to enter the carburettor)

Bike keeps cutting out

sounds like either your fuel vent on the tank is clogged ( the rubber hose coming off the top of the fuel cap) or #2 your spark plugs are fouling out which is probally the most common thing with a 2 cycle engine.
