Follow the positive wire from the battery and it will lead you to the fuse box. Also watch for a in line fuse or fuseable link.

The battery could have been installed with polarity reversed. On the other hand, polarity could be correct but the clamps were not clean/tightened sufficiently.

I believe this got hooked up in reverse polarity. It will not work know. Can it be repaired?

Hello Mike,
I believe... the big danger with hooking up batteries in reverse polarity... is the explosive RISK.

It seems you got away with that...

(although it is a VERY good idea to have fresh water & baking soda IMMEDIATELY NEARBY if you do manage to provoke an explosion. Once you are blinded, perforated by battery shrapnel, burned & soaked in ACID you won't be thinking clearly).

Most everything in your car is rated for 12 volts... the POLARITY is only important for magnetic direction... Such as windows going up instead of down... seats going forward when switched to go back... Lights don't care... Diodes and transistors simply won't respond...

With the possible exception of some rather unique POLAR capacitors ... but we know that is really not all that wise... No/yes?

Perhaps now would be time to analyze what the ORIGINAL problem was when the battery got removed, reversed... Make, year, Model... and operational issues... and history...

Just put the battery in correctly (Battery & Ground) ... and start with the BASICS.

FUEL, FIRE & AIR... I would be happy to make more relevant suggestions as you progress... Just comment me back.

Stay safe... work safer...!!

Why my apc ups change its polarity after mains failuer

Probably because polarity at the plug is reversed, check for that.
There is a red LED at the back of the unit, if it is lit, polarity at the plug is reversed, you will have to correct this.

I accidently installed the battery reverse polarity, momentarily only. Now installed correctly and no power at all. Suspect fuse? I can't find the 30Amp fuse. I have located the spare one and the 10amp...

Look at the end of the red cable coming from the battery. There will be a metal strip bolted to a plastic block. That is the main fuse. If it's not there it will be in the plug that goes on the starter relay.
Sometime when reversing polarity on the bike you can damage the engine management system. Check everything carefully. Hope you didn't. good luck.

I have an Onan 3600 microquiet lp. I made the mistake of hooking up a jumper box to the battery with the cables crossed, now it blows the 5amp fuse that supplies power for starting. hope I didn't fry...

It certainly sounds like you have damaged the control board. If you cranked it with reverse polarity, there is a good chance that you have rotor winding damage also. If not you still may have to flash the rotor windings to ensure a correct polarized field. That involves hooking a battery for a couple of seconds to the rotor brushes (with correct polarity) with rotor brush wires disconnected. Only do this if there is no output voltage after you replace the control boards. Bad mistake :)

Golf battery polarity

reversed polarity, check fuses. check the system for burnt wires also !
Always hook up your battery terminals correctly, as the alternator may be damaged if the battery is hooked up backward. jump start car, if it will. there should be at least 13.7 to 14.2 volts at battery posts while its running. if alternator is ok.

CONNECT UR BATTERY WIRES PROPERLY AND HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING WILL WORK FINE, IF NOT, CHECK UR FUSES...IF THEY'RE GOOD, THEN THE COMPUTER MOST LIKELY GOT FRIED...

I need to know how to polarize a generator for a 1969 HD sportser

To polarize the generator you must make sure you have a fully charged battery first. Then make sure the regulator is correctly connected to the generator. Then take a heavy gauge wire and momentarily connect it between the positive side of the battery and the “A” post of the generator. The “A” is the post is the left/front post if you are looking at the installed generator from the left side of the bike.

IBM T30 laptop- replacing CMOS battery

Provided the laptop booted (albeit to requiring bios set up), all is well. The data such as time needs to be re-entered manually, because since the battery is required to maintain volatile memory, when the battery goes flat or is removed, the data is lost. Re-enter all data, including boot sequence (i.e. IDE 0, CD-ROM/DVD)! exit saving to CMOS. should reboot to OS.
