There is a small switch that is linked to it at the back near to the pedal. Check it out.

Rear foot break switch

Late model Harley's have been having a problem with the rear brake light switch.
Replace.

A quick test is to unplug the two wires from the brake light switch, and jump them together with ignition on and see if the brake light illuminates.

Flhx foot brake light not working

Hi Anonymous, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. Brake light does not work 2007 fxstc harley

Hi Anonymous, always check the bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. Tail light and foot pedal brake light does not work but hand lever brake light works.

Probably a bulb/ rear brake switch combination. If your front brake switch is working, then half of the bulb is working. No taillight issue, probably a bulb. No rear brake light, probably the rear brake switch. Located on the lower right rear of the frame, behind the exhaust. Check for power on the orange/white wire at switch. If you have that then check for power on the other terminal of the switch while pushing on the pedal. The rear brake switch is hydraulically operated so you must have adequate pressure to activate it.

Brake light does not come on with foot paddle.it does with hand brake 2006 roadking.

Sounds like the pressure switch underneath the bike has gone bad or the wires have come off the tabs. Follow the metal brake line that comes out of the rear master cylinder until you find the pressure switch. If the wires are on the tabs like they should be, the pressure switch is probably bad.

Good luck

My running light on rear works but no brake light changed bulb two time. it has a three wire plug . wont work hand or foot brake.harley davidson sportster 1200 1994 help if you can please.

Trace the metal line coming from the rear master cylinder going to the rear caliper. You'll come to a Tee fitting with an electrical pressure switch in it. Replace that switch and see if this helps.

Good Luck

95 isuzu rodeo anti lock brake lite staying on and brake paddle moving up and down

You probably have a bad wheel speed sensor, Most likely the sensor is telling your antilock system to activate, causing your brake pedal to pulse under your foot, you may have to take it and get it diagnosed. or check the wiring harness's, make sure they are properly connected, behind the front brake caliper if your vehicle is equiped with 4 wheel antilock, and the rear antilock may be either behind your brake drum or caliper, depending on disc or drum brakes on the rear. Some Vehichles have a single speed sensor located usually near the center of your rear axle, instead of individual sensors on the rear. look for a wiring harness connecting to the rear axle. It will likely be the only wiring connected into your rear axle. Hope this helps

95 road king brake light does not work taillight works changed

I take it it does not work foot or hand control. look for your brake light switch right side of frame rail usually a goldish color or silver color. it has two plug in connectors. Unplug and put a test light to them. apply either brake. If the light comes on then you have a bad brake switch. replace it. if you have foot brake and no hand brake light then it would most likely be the brake nipple in the hand switch. but you did not say so I assume no brakes foot or hand.

Brake light will not turn on with foot brake or hand brake. All other lights work. Will it be a loose wire? What colour will it be? Where should I look? 1991 FXSTC D. Butler.

Solution, (after checking all wiring) was bad contacts in rear light. Cleaned them up, and everything works fine now. Always the simplest solution and always the last one you check!!!
