Question about 2009 Hero Honda Glamour

1 Answer

Hi I have bought hero glamour in 2009. Six months before I have changed piston, piston rings, timing chain and valves for low milege, white smoking from pipe cylinder as well as bad sound from engine. But the problem remains same it is still going on. Now the mobil is also decreasing day by day. The Electric plug gets shorted sometimes and the bike does not start. For I have to buy a new plug for starting. The mechanic says I have to change piston, piston ring, valves, valve oil sealed again. What should I do now please suggest me the right solutions. Thank you in advance.

If the cylinders bores were not prepared properly with a honing tool before fitting new rings etc, that is why you have problems. The bores are hardened and will not allow the rings to bed in properly.

SOURCE: My Hero Honda Glamour (2008 byke without disk brake)is emmiting white smoke.

That seems a big job, did he say how much he will charge to do it?

I think, unless you are an engineer you will need a manual to do a job like that, although you may find one somewhere on the Internet, if I were to attempt that I would prefer to have a paper one, I could refer to as I went along.

Excessive white smoke from tail pipe

White smoke:

White smoke is caused by raw, un-burnt fuel passing into the exhaust stream. Common causes include:
·Incorrect fuel injection timing
·Defective fuel injectors
·Low cylinder compression

Low cylinder compression may be caused by leaking valves, sticking piston rings, ring wear, cylinder wear, or cylinder glaze. When white smoke occurs at cold start and then disappears as the engine warms up, the most common causes are fouling deposits around piston rings and/or cylinder glazing.
Continuous evidence of white smoke indicates a mechanical defect, or incorrect fuel timing.

Hi, TSNP your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. COLORLESS OR SLIGHTLY BLUE SMOKE on start-up means your air/fuel mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt in your combustion chamber.
2. BLUE SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by failed valve seals dripping oil into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running.
3. YELLOW OR BROWNISH SMOKE at start-up means your air/fuel mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
4. WHITE SMOKE on start-up may be caused by worn out valve seals or a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers. Smoke while riding is usually caused by worn out or damaged valves, seals, guides, pistons, rings, or cylinder walls.
5. BLACK SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, air filter dirty and clogged, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large or a damaged carburetor.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

Right, so...... It is your piston ring that has gone kaput, if still under warranty (I doubt it) tke it to your dealer and get it fixed else sell it as parts.

Less mileage

Tune up sounds like the optimum solution. Depending on the area in which you live, the bike may need maintenance faster than scheduled in the owners manual.

Dust, Dirt, Pollen especially can cause a clogged air filter. Depending on which grade of gas you use, you may need to change plug(s) already.

I hope this information was some what helpful.
