Yamaha RX-770 Receiver display quit

I am trying to set up my system of various components, JVC TV,AV-2660S, Sony CD player, CDP-CE405, and Aspire Digital DVD player,AD-900 and my Yamaha Receiver RX-770 with a Harmony Remote,670. Most components are working with exception of the TV and DVD player not automatically switching to LD/TV and VCR/TAPE 2 respectively. I can get off the couch if I have to, but in the midst of all this, the display on the Yamaha quit, is this coincidental or is there some specific thing I can do to remedy this? Daryl

That would have been helpful if I hadn't tapped the display with my finger and it came back on, boy do I feel stupid!! Thanks anyway, Daryl

There is a bulb inside the backlight on the lcd display.it is 12 volt and alot of manufacturers run it from the +- 15 volt preamp power supply,on the plus rail.when the bulb burns out it can activate the dc speaker protect,or some other 12 or 15 volt circuit..if it is a flourescent display that is a different problem.those run on 5 12 18 and -32 volts.there is also a 6 volt ac filament voltage.you need the schematic.

that means the soldering on some of the pins is no good,or more than likely, the filament in the backlit display bulb is bad, just like in a car when you bang the light and it come on.if the bulb is bad,it will go out again.

How do i program for sony cd player

I also have a Sony CD player (CDP-XE330) and I have tried almost every code from the yamaha manual, but without success.
The only codes that yamaha remote supports, are the codes from the list in the yamaha manual. If none works, you are out of luck and the only solution is using the original sony remote (if you have one) or universal remote.

I have recently purchased Logitech Harmony 525 on eBay and now I control all my 7 devices with it without any issues. It is programmed via USB and Logitech has codes for almost 250.000 devices.

The Yamaha RX-V463 AV does not playsound from the blue ray player

"I am also having difficulties in try to display the yamaha set up menu on the tv."
According to the manual the display menu for TV will not work with HDMI hook up.
I also have a Panasonic HD TV and can't get TV sound through my Yamaha AVR on "TV Sound" mode.  Trying to use HDMI cable for this also.  Do I need a digital optical cable or do I not have something set right?

No auto setup display on TV

For the setup functions you have to use either the monitor out (a yellow jack on the top-right corner of the back) or you have to use component video out. HDMI will NOT work for setting up the system. This is one complaint to Yamaha from all of us.

Yamaha RX V-663 video output into old Coaxial TV

You need a coax to RCA converter. Do a google search, Belkin makes one, Radio Shack probably has one too.
