Question about 1979 Yamaha TX 750

1 Answer

Fast Idle I Have a Yamaha 750 special and I need to slow the idle down. It idles at a little over 2000rpm's I need to get it down to approx. 1000rpm's. My problem is that I don't know which screws to turn down the idle. And if I turn down the idle, will it mess up the tune up and the way it runs.

High fast idle at start up.

On most newer cars there is a fast idle motor controlled by the computer that will hold the fast idle till the engine reaches a preset temp in the computer then the engine should drop down to the set idle according to specs for that car. If the oil pressure continues to stay low after the idle goes down you may need to replace the oil pressure sending unit or if worse case the oil pump.

Usually with the AC on, the idle will slow down, but your case, maybe you set the idle too fast, try set your idle slow down a little bit see if it is working.
