The carb has been jetted and it has been piped and it has a new top end in it i am running 50 to 1 premix new plug as well

SOURCE: 2005 kx250f wont idle.will idle fine w/choke

the fact that it idles with the choke on indicates that fuel mixture is the problem here remove the mixture screw completely check that the o ring seal is not damaged & that the end of the needle is not worn or bent if either of these conditions are obviouse replace the damaged or worn parts general rule of thumb with mixture adjustment is 1&1/2 to 2 turns out give it a try

hi,sounds to me like the air fuel ratio is all up the ***,locate the air/fuel screw on the carb(normally on the side)screw the screw right in untill it stops,then back the screw out 1.5 turns,this should get the bike to run without the choke,once you have the bike running simply turn the screw in or out untill the bike settles into a nice steady idle,should be good to go,hope this helps...cheers

My 2004 rmz 250 4 stroke lost power died went to kick it over and it locked up what causes that?


Hi, William you may have hydraulic lock caused by excessive liquid in the cylinder or you have squeaked your top end this is commonly known as "HEAT SEIZE" the piston heats up expands and becomes extremely tight in the cylinder bore and usually occurs mainly on 2 cycle engines right after a fresh top end rebuild, but it can also happen to brand new motorcycles, these are rare instances due to better quality control and education. Overheating failures that cause pistons to seize are many and each one should be carefully diagnosed to prevent future repeat offenders and the usual suspects are:
1. Lack of lubrication due to low or no oil.
2. Among the causes of lack of cylinder, lubrication is clogging of lubricator by dirt or waste, obstruction in oil pipes/lines, leaky check valves, leaky pump packing, broken oil pipe/line, oil too cold to feed.
3. Wrong type of oil used in premix or oil tank.
4. Improper premix ratio you should start with 32:1 as a baseline.
5. New rebuild piston to cylinder tolerances set up too tight.
6. Failure to follow proper break in procedures with a 16:1 premix ratio.
7. Loose fasteners causing intake, base, or head gaskets to leak or blown crankshaft seal, failure caused by age, overheating or walking. 8. Holes in the intake manifold bent or warped intake flange or reed cage any stray air coming into a cylinder will cause a super lean condition.
9. Improper assembly of reed valve gaskets.
10. Insufficient warm up time for temperature conditions before WOT.
11. Broken, pinched or cracked fuel line.
12. Carburetor fuel passages clogged or restricted from stale fuel varnish, ethanol sludge, dirt, rust, or fuel level in float bowl too low.
13. Main jet size too small or partially clogged
14. Air filter improperly installed, missing or not sealing.
15. Faulty or improperly adjusted oil pump and or cable.
16. Failure to bleed oil pump after a rebuild/replacement or running oil tank dry.
17. Engine coolant level too low, too old, or improper mixture ratio.
18. Radiator clogged, fins damaged, or faulty cap.
19. No liquid circulation due to failed oil or water pump.
20. Cavitation due to air in oil or coolant system.
21. Water and oil mix due to blown head gasket.
22. Timing retarded due to faulty CKP sensor or CDI.
23. Improper spark plug heat range (too hot) and or gap.
24. Excessive engine load, brakes dragging, clutch slipping, transmission lubricant level too low or viscosity to high.

Are the carb jets clogged? The low and high carb adjustments fail to change my Husc. saw speed. It says running (rough) only when the trigger is depressed. Fresh gas, new air filter, and new plug. The


Fuel, Chain saws are the most pickiest when it comes to fuel, I normally buy the Premixed Fuel already made for me at lowes they have a 40:1 and a 50:1 ratio mixes. I would try that.

Suzuki rm 125 2000. The bike starts as it should, it reacts to the choke etc. after about 30 seconds it bogs down and dies. it starts straight back up but wont tick over, it keeps cutting out unless you...


Jets in the carb may need blowing out,do not try to put anything in them,just use compressed air and solvent,sometimes dirt collects in the float bowl and when the carb is removed for cleaning it finds its way into the jets,sounds like the idle jet is blocked

My 2003 Suzuki rm 125 kick starts with brand new spark plug then eventually bogs down and dies, does the same when push started, does it need new piston and rings?


HI,,sounds like your plug is fouling,,what pre-mix ratio are you running? and has the carb been played with? run 32-1 premix and remove and clean the carb.

piston and rings are not to blame for this behaviour.

Hello if your motorcycle is blowing a lot of smoke and oil from the exhaust and running poorly,sounds like you have worn crankshaft bearings or the main seal is bad and sucking transmission oil.

I have a 2005 kx 250 2 stroke and it keeps eating plugs


NGK brand spark plug BR8ECMVX is the stock plug for the bike. The proper gas / oil mix is 32 to 1. That means 4 ounces of 2 stroke oil per gallon of gas. The posting was not clear as to just what the problem is. If you are burning up plugs there may be a air leak in the intake system making the bike run lean. A lean fuel mix runs hot.

You need to ensure that your fuel/oil mixture is correct. Roughly between 40:1 and 32:1. Usually if you mix is off, it will foul plugs quickly. You can also get a compression test and if it fails look into getting a top end done. Any motorbike shop will be willing to do it and is generally inexpensive. It would be cheaper to do it yourself, assuming you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have the service manual. Good luck.22

Power issue


Remove and clean the carb. Before putting the slide back into the carb throat, move the clip on the jet needle down one notch. This should take care of the problems.

Clean and dry the air filter? Go back to a stock main jet, at least to check things out? Are "O" ring seals on the main jet going bad?Partial internal collapse in exhaust (remove exhaust pipe & do a quick run down the alley), Install a new stock NGK spark plug, Be sure battery connections are clean and tight, Be sure intake manifold and carb are good and tight.
