Question about Motorcycles
I have a fresh top end in my 1998 rm 250 it has a dome piston in it and will not start by kicking it over it will only start by push starting it is that because i have to much compression to kick it over fast enough please help me to fix this
The RM250W has a compression release, but I don't think the RM250 does.
If you have one, is it hooked up?
Also, isn't stock with a FLAT top piston?

HI,,sounds like your plug is fouling,,what pre-mix ratio are you running? and has the carb been played with? run 32-1 premix and remove and clean the carb.
piston and rings are not to blame for this behaviour.

SOURCE: rm 250 wont start off kick
Don't know if it is water cooled or not, but it sounds like you may have a problem with oil or water getting into the combustion chamber and fouling the spark plugs. Kicking doesn't produce the amount of rpm that you need to fire up a weakly firing plug. I'd check the plugs condition first and replace if needed, and then figure out why its smoking.

Testimonial: "good advice, found out oil was getting into the chamber through the main crank seals thanks "
SOURCE: layed 04 suzuki rm-z 250 in deep puddle and submerged it, i could only compression start it after that for about a week then nothing no kick start or compression start, Bike has been sitting inside fo
First thing is check your oil pump if function properly maybe sum damage on rings and pistons in your engine.
