SOURCE: Yamaha Enduro Clutch not engaging

i actuall have a yamaha enduro 100 and had this same problem.
First thing is take the clutch apart take all the rings out and clean them good with momry cloth assemble the clutch compleatly as it came out and when tighting the springs tight them all one turn at a time and after everytime you go around try to move youre clutch with youre bike in gear. if it trys to move it is engageing just keep turning the screws untill they stop. also recomend putting threadlocker on the drive gear bolt and the clutch bolt that holds the clutch on. if you have and questions just e-mail me at Jvossbrink@comcast.net just make shure to tell me that i responded to youre fixya question about youre bike and i will walk you threw it.

ps just rember to put the clutch pushrod back in

Recently purchased a 75' CB360T. Ran fine but when I took it for a spin I got back and went to release the clutch and the lever just stayed in, there was no tension on it. It seems like I can't disengage...

It`s possible that your clutch cable broke.Yes follow the cable down to the motor and remove that cover. The cable will be attached to push rod lever. When you remove the cover you will see the front sprocket and clutch push rod make sure the rod stay in place.Hope this helps you out.

Clutch does not engage fully and wont go to nuetral when engine is running. If engine is off, have no trouble going to neutral.

The last time I saw one of these bikes, (back in 1995 or '96) I was able to improve the clutch performance quite a bit by adjusting the cable at the lever. I don't recall as to whether or not they offered a hydraulic clutch actuator, (the one I worked on was a cable) but if they did you can try bleeding it.

Sorry I don't have a manual that I can get the procedure from, try checking with your local dealer if possible, they should be able to provide the service information. If not I believe there is a Hayes manual available.

Good luck.

Having trouble with the clutch/gears

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my knowledge, the engine and the gear/transmission share the same oil in the crankcase. Clutch cable adjustment on most bikes could be done 2 ways:
  • after the clutch lever itself. There would be an adjustable end of the cable. It is locked in place by a coin like nut with grooved edge. This locked must be loosed before the cable end could be adjusted.
  • similarly at the bottom end of the cable that attaches to the clutch arm, the cable end would also have a thread end. There would be 2 lock nuts that must be loosened up.
You can experiment clutch play/slack to your personal preference. Soon as you are satisfied (number of tries clutching/engaging gears), then the locks could be tightened in place.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
