SOURCE: big end bearing has disintegrated.

If it's a 2-stroke, you'll need a crank puller and a case splitting tool to get this done, the crank is press fit into the magneto side bearing. If it's a 4-stroke, no special tools are required. Always pull the clutch side case off, leaving the transmission and crank in the magneto side. It's way easier to keep the transmission organized this way. Good luck!

I'm working on a yanmar 3d84-1 engine I'm getting ready to resize the connecting rods and need to know what the rod bolt torque is and what the big end rod bore should be

you don't resize the rod ends. you change the bearings size. as for the torque goes, you can find that information in the repair manual for that car

My 03 Fat boy has a low end clunking with brass in the oil with only 16k mi. Cam bushing or rod bearings?

With the "clunking" noise (if in reality, more of a "knock"), I'd tend to believe a connecting rod big end bearing.

BUT, it'd be easier to check the cam bearing first, plus you'd have to get this far before tearing down more to get to the rod bearing, anyways.

BUT, you can get an idea of the rod bearing by tearing down top end, remove cylinders and pistons, and check if you have any up/down play at the rod (there should be no appreciable noticable movement).

How can i tell if my crankshaft bearing is going out

Hi, if the big end bearing fitted within the con rod on the crankshaft fails it is accompanied by a knocking noise when the engine is running, when the engine is striped and the crankshaft is out, movment of the con rod in an up and down direction while grasping the conrod between finger and thumb indicates big end failure, youmay also notice while rotating the con rod that it locks up, more so in 1 direction. Visual damage bearing cage failure visible from within the oil cut out on the big end of the conrod,
Crankshaft main bearing failure, the main bearings are fitted within the engine cases 1 left and 1 right, failure of this bearing would be movment of the crankshaft ends within the cases, accompanied by a rough vibrating sound.when running,
Hope this helps paul

Whats a lower rod bearing for a 2002 cr250 and can i put it in at my house??

The bearing for the lower end of the connecting rod is pressed between the crank halves. Most people would just replace the crank and rod assy. as the crank must be rebalanced after pressing a new bearing in.
