Hi Anonymous, there is a male tounge that slides into a female bracket attached to the frame in the front and two nuts that secure it to the rear fender in the back. Remove nuts, lift up on seat and slide backwards. Good luck

SOURCE: Need the torque spec on the acorn nuts that fasten

I have a slightly older springer, but they are probably the same. The shop manual says in reference to the acorn nuts on top of the spring restraints, "Tighten acorn nuts to 30-35 ft-lbs torque."

Springer softail turn signal speedometer and taillight quite working when installing new bars. Fuse???

Hi Steelcitysig, on a Softail remove seat and directly behind the battery is a black plastic box. The cover slides up and off revealing the starter relay and the system/fuel pump relay for you injected folks and the various assorted circuit fuses. Good luck and have nice day.

Batterie

The battery is under the seat in the center of the "horse shoe" oil tank. Remove the seat and you'll see the battery.

Good Luck

Seat needs to be softer

You can find some oh-so soft baby cushions for your princess-and-the-pea behind at any local motorcycle shop. The replacement oh-so-soft seats run about $450

So much for the "Softail" huh?

Need the torque spec on the acorn nuts that fasten the top of the springer front end. They sit right behind the headlamp assy. The bike is a 2008 Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle Springer.
