White smoke is usually never a good thing. Check your coolant level. You might have a head gasket leak that is letting coolant get into your cylinders.

05 Nissan Altima 4.2l replaced valve cover, gasket, and spark plugs looks fine with no leaks and engine runs fine,now I have lots of white smoke at start up which goes away once engine is warm.

White smoke indicates water going through your engine or condensation in your exhaust. If it is a lot of smoke you probably have a small leak in your head gasket that seals back up as the engine warms and the materials expand. It will get worse as time goes on. If it's just a little smoke that doesn't last long it's probably condensation in your exhaust, especially if it's cold outside. Condensation is caused by the air cooling down in your exhaust after you shut down the engine.

White smoke on start up

white smoke is a sign of water in the exhaust , the question is how is it getting there , if only when initial start then goes off then it's only condensation in the exhaust system heating up and turning to steam , if it goes on when driving check coolant level and check engine oil for signs of coolant contamination

What does white smoke coming from exhaust of a 01 'suzuki gsxr 1000 mean when starting only?

For motorcycles with 4-stroke engines: The white smoke from the exhaust means that the engine oil is leaking into the combustion chamber where the petrol burns. ... This eventually means that you have to get your piston changed along with the piston rings that prevent the engine oil leaking into the combustion chamber.

My 2004 toyota sienna CE has white smoke when first started then goes away and also knocks then smokes white again when first kicking it when climbing a hill after going down another

In all the cases of white smoke it leads to a cracked head. It might be just an oil lead but most of the time its a cracked head gasket.

White smoke comes out my car when i start it but goes after a while

Usually high humidity in the exhaust system. Check the exhaust pipe inclination to see if it doesn't allow water to flow into the muffler.
Also after the smoke goes, i.e the car is well warmed up, put the car in Park or Neutral. Tap the gas pedal to get some quick revs. Look for small puffs of white smoke. If you see some then get ready for a rings job. This can be confirmed by removing the spark plugs. They'll have oil deposit on them.

White smoke, water vapor at initial start-up. drives a few miles, smokes again. could it be a vacuum regulator? 2001 jaguar s-type

Water vapor coming out of the exhaust at initial start-up is normal; that is condensation that collects when the engine is not running. White smoke at start-up depends on a couple of things. Tell me, where do you live? When the weather is very cold, all engines will emit steam (white smoke) when they are first running; this stops after the engine has been running a while and is warm.

In short, if this is only happening at first start of the morning and goes away over time, there is nothing wrong.

If, however, the "white smoke" continues and never stops, you may have a blown head gasket.

White smoke from exhaust

Hello;
The white smoke is from coolant entering the combustion chamber(s). Coolant can enter through the water passages sealed bu the head gasket. You have probably blown a head gasket. You should check your coolant level. You may have acracked head if you continue to drive it and overheat. The temp gauge only reads when exposed to coolant, not air. Take out thhe spark plugs and look them over. A white glossy apperance will indicate water in the combustion chamber. You may need to surface the head once you have it removed so that it is flat. Hope this helps.
Thanks;
