Hi Anonymous, you need to locate the source. Oil leaks from the top down and the wind blows it from front to rear. Good luck

How to locate the engine oil leak does the car need to be running

Usually you won't see a leak until the car is parked. It's a good idea to put a piece of cardboard under the car after it's been driven to detect the leak or leaks. If you see any drops or puddle on the cardboard, crawl underneath the car and lookup under the engine to see where the leak is coming from. Look at the area above the puddle or dripping.

Big oil puddles in drive under car. 1 1/2 quarts low between oil changes. Looked under car and oil is mostly on back part of engine. ?

You should get it up in a hoist and look at lower side of engine. Could be rear seal or something as simple as valve cover gasket leaking. It's probably a simple gasket that needs replacing but don't put it off, leaks don't fix themselves they only get worse.

I have a 2001 Saturn L. Oil is leaking, it is not the head gasket. Tore engine apart and replaced gaskets. Stopped leaking for about 6-7 months and it started to leak again. Did oil change last week...

If you have no visible signs of oil leaking out of the engine then the oil is being burnt. By visible leaking I mean a small puddle of oil under the car after having been left overnight. This can be cured by replacing shaft seals and gaskets. Burning oil is visible as smoke under deceleration (no throttle) and under full power(flooring it). This is due to worn/old valve stem seals(smoke under deceleration) and worn oil rings(smoke under acceleration) This can only be cured by a major engine overhaul or engine replacement. Bear in mind that losing a pint of oil in 1000 miles is acceptable.

Air stopped working, fan blows hot air. Found oil spot under car and it does not appear to be commong from engine.Head, valve or oil pan caskets

A/C gauges need to be connected to the system to see if there is the proper amount of freon (r-134a). There is a clear type of oil that has very little odor, in an A/C system. If there is a leak, it is likely that some oil has leaked out as well. There is only a few onces of oil in the entire system, so if you see a puddle, it is not likely to be A/C oil unless something fairly major happened (like a broken hose).
