Hi Mycheal, you might have a bad bulb or your high/low beam switch is defective. Use a test lite to check continuity at the switch.
Good luck

If I recall, they have a problem with wires chaffing under the fairing. Good luck the fairing has to come off.

How's the battery holding up? Check the voltage on the battery and also check to see if it is bubbling a lot. 13.8V is optimal for the battery charging with the engine running, but up to 14.4 is common. If it's running a lot over that and the battery is making a lot of bubbles, probably the regulator is the problem.

If the battery is low on electrolyte, the regulator doesn't have anyplace to dump electrons, and that could also be a problem, so make sure the battery connections are good and tight, too.

SOURCE: Headlights don't work on start up

Energy must pass through your switch (hi/low or momentary), then to your headlight, and finally to ground. An interruption anywhere will cause the light to go out. Since both your hi and low beams are not working, I suspect a bad ground connection somewhere. Probably in your switch, but if it is easier to check the headlight socket I would check that too. Use a multi-meter, see if you have power to the switch. If you do, ground the negative lead coming to the switch and see if your headlight comes on. If it does, you know you have a bad ground.

SOURCE: My headlight is inop on my 1993 750 nighthawk, I

The two most likely culprits are the ignition switch and the starter button. The starter button, in the right handlebar switch assembly, performs two functions: cranks the electric starter - and, at the same time, turns off the headlight. Sometimes the electrical contacts inside the starter button burn out and fail to reconnect the headlight circuit when the button is released.
You can easily determine which one is the problem by simply checking for battery voltage at the headlight fuse. No voltage means the likely cause is the ignition switch. Also inspect the large plug on the bottom of the ignition switch. Sometimes the individual connectors will corrode, melt, or push themselves out of the plastic housing.
If there's voltage at the headlight fuse, then plan on replacing the right handlebar switch assembly.

i would change the headlight because if one side of the bulb lights up that means that the lower beam is bad or just check your fuse you may have two fuses to that connection

Headlight high beams do not work. I have even replaced the headlights. Low beam worksbut when switching to the high beams they turn off. Please help.

Hello. Generally when this happens, the high-low beam switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced. If you are handy you can do this your self. Otherwise, any autoelectric repair shop is your best bet. J.

My low beam lights sometimes stop working i still have high beam and daylight runing lights after a while they come on.2009 elantra dealer can't find problem.

when the low beams quit try switching from high to low and back and see if low beams stay on, if they do it may be the dimmer switch, if that doesn't change anything suspect the headlight switch.

Low beam headlights not working on 2004 Pontiac Montana extended

You headlight lamp have a diffuser mechanism which allows it to flip between the hight beam and low beam feature of the bulb. In fact, you high beam will function even if the low beam is not working.

I would recommend the purchase of the new headlight lamp. It would cost you you any where from $15.00 per unit to get a replacement lamp
