Besides the idle set and idle mixture, there are no other adjustments you can make without rejetting.

SOURCE: Tuning problems with 1985 Honda CR125

Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

SOURCE: i have a 1984 XR200R with the dual carb set up

You need to remove the top cap off the carb(s) then lift the slide out of the throat of the carb. You will see a long needle in the center of the slide. Lift the needle out then move the clip on the top of the needle down one notch. Two notches may be needed but start with one. Now re-assemble the carb(s). Doing this will richen the low end fuel mix.

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock.

Are there two air flow screws on carbs on a 1100 shadow or just one

Hi, Bruce each carb has only one air fuel mixture screw and one idle adjustment screw for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Honda, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the links below. Good luck and have a nice day.

Show me the air ajustment screw on the carb

Air adjustment screws are set by the factory. They hide them under freeze plugs driven into the passage. Having never seen your carb I looked it up for an image. What I see is a Vacuum Diaphragm reliant Carb. The Jet needle is marked -'21'in this image. The C-Clip position on the needle has 3-4 different options. (used to anyway). If it's not working as is, and you do not live at high altitude,(Like Denver), Changing the position won't work. It could mean a worn Diaphragm or Spring. Need to adjust my honda shadow 500 vt carburator's fuel/air mixture

start by synchronizing your throttle plates. Honda calls the next step the "idle drop procedure". u need to know if you have fuel adj. screws or air adj. screws. fuel screws will be on engine side of carb slide, air screws will be on airbox side of carb slide. start leaning out mixture, (turn in fuel screw, turn out air screw. idle will increase so keep adjusting idle back to spec.after each turn if needed. Adjust about 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time on each carb until there is no change in idle, then richen up mixture by one half turn. If u sync throttle plates first then follow this procedure, there should be no hesitation when you "blip" the throttle, and after revving it should return to idle smooth,

Honda shadow 1100 will not idel unless choke is all the way on

Okay, let me see if I can help you out...it may not be the jets in the carburetor. Hondas, like most other street bikes, have an idle adjust screw on the carburetor. Most times, you can adjust that screw to get your idle at 1000rpm, which is the norm for idle speed.

The screw is not hard to identify; the easiest way is to first, take the air cleaner and intake off. Then watch the carburetor throttle linkage while you twist the throttle. You will see where the throttle cable connects to the carb and there will be a spring-loaded screw right there. Turning that screw adjusts the static (idle) position of the throttle plate; turn the screw so the plate moves in the same direction the throttle cable pulls it.

I'm willing to bet that adjusting this screw will get your idle back to normal. If it doesn't, come back here and let me know; I will then lead you through a procedure to fix the carburetor. Cheers!

I know its a stupid qeustion but where exactly on the motorcycle is the air screw and throttle screw. I have a 2007 Suzuki rm125.

The air mixture needle valve is on the Carb. Throttle screw as you call it, you might be referring to 1- throttle adjustment at the twist throttle hand grip. 2- At the top of the carb is a throttle cable adjustment 3- some times somewhere between the twist grip and the carb there is an adjustment.4- there is also a idle adjustment at the carb.3a37cbb.png

Should be a black knob right near carb, if not it is the flathead screw on the side of the carb slide body.
