SOURCE: stater motor on xls 1979 not ingaging

The clicking sound is a bad battery. If it was the starter not engaging, you would hear it spin or the wire would heat up and smoke.... The battery should be trickle charged and then checked to see if the starting power is good. Even if the batery charges, it may not have enough amps to turn the srter over. A bad battery wil also damage a starter. Make sure the battery is fully charged and proper amps to make sure it will srart your motor. Hope this helps. TOM

883 HD sportster was running fine and then turned

If when you push the "start" button, and get a rapid series of clicks, it's a low battery, or a bad connection.
If you get a single, louder click, it's the stater relay.
If nothing, start by testing the starter button itself, and checking all the related wiring for breaks.

2006 grand vitara will not start and solenoid will not click. Battery is fine.

you mean it wont crank, no car starts with a dead starter. unless push started.
wiggle the shifter lever, that is the PRN switch if the switch lies
and shows not Park the starter will be dead by DESIGN.
you can hot wire any starter solenoid and see if the starter works at any time.
if it does , the its not the starter, its the key line.
the key switch creates the key line signal. and goes to tranny then starter. if this line opens for ANY reasons, the stater (even good) will never crank.
this is to prevent , the old Audi lady from running over her kids.
it can be defeated. you can ever add an "override switch)
many do after seeing $200 PRN switch, dang.
ok you are impowered, (sorry so late )

New stater, stater still makes clicking sound

First you should check to make sure the engine is not locked up by turning it over manually. If you can turn the engine manually, then check your battery terminal ends to make sure you have good, clean and tight connections. Typically, a faulty electrical connection is the main culprit that will cause your situation. If you still suspect a faulty connection, try having someone turn the ignition key while you wiggle the battery cables to see if it will try to start. This should help you narrow down the problem area.

Turn key, makes clicking noise but not start.

Double check your battery connections. If the battery is new and the starter makes a series of clicking noises when the key is held in the start position than you are not getting a good power supply to the starter or there is not a sufficient ground.

750 katana click when starter hit battery is good could it be solenoid if so where is solenoid

if you follow the positive cable from the battery it will lead you to the starter solenoid. it's jast a little square that also holds the main fuse. you can check if it's bad just by bridging the to posts together with a set of needle nose pliers. if pushing the start button just makes it click when you bridge it it should activate the starter. if the starter works when you bridge it, you know the solenoid is bad. if your stater still clicks when you bridge it, make sure your battery is at full charge. if your battery is at full charge and it still clicks, your starter is bad.
