Question about Kymco ZX 50 Motorcycles
Original stator wiring is blue/white which is pick up, green(is ground to all lighting),white(to voltage regulator),yellow(regulator and light switch),red and black to CDI.the new IMS engine has blue/yellow,red/black,yellow,and white coming from magneto. on the other side of the engine a blue/white wire comes out from behind cover. i'm wondering if this takes place of green wire.

go to your local honda dealer or a good library and look up the exact make and model of your bike and get the plug wiring code for the cdi, most bikes i know aere different from each other in the cdi wiring,if you get it wrong the first time, you will fry the cdi and they are quite expensive to replace..hope this helps

Common problem with poor quality parts, the regulator is the problem, the generator is working other wise you would not have fried the wiring, you answered your own question. someone telling porkies to get more money from unsuspecting client?
The regulator controls the voltage not the generator, the generator only supplys the voltage it cannot overcharge unless the regulator is not working properly, simple!

MMM, fun... for a start the 3 whites should be right no matter which way they go, the other 4 i'd look at whether they have male or female conectors if possible, if they're bunched together etc, two should be from the ignition, and I think the other 2 are pos. & neg for the coil or coil + and one for earth, depending on the wiring of your bike

Hmm, something has been changed at some stage.
All wires should be of same colour combo's.
Best guess is three wires from cdi go directly to magneto, whilst the fourth is for the coil. However your configuration suggest a different cdi unit is being used, the site below has a diagram of your bikes standard electrics, unfortunately not color coded.
Normally, it cannot be wired incorrectly as male/female and color wires determine correct connections. Find out the origins of the parts and seek the application for the color of each wire, ie: color wire for primary source, pulse coil, earth, etc. Transfer this info to the colors from your magneto, Goodluck and cheers.
