I just got a tomos 36cc or 50cc. Not sure what it is and don't know if it's a 2 or 4 stroke. How do I tell the difference?

Hi, Dale a 2 stroke has no camshaft or intake or exhaust valves and redlines around 12,000 RPM's a 4 stroke has valves, overhead camshaft or bottom end camshaft and pushrods and redlines around 6,000 RPM's The bike in your picture is a 2004/5 MC36 and is definitely a 2 stroke. The VIN# will tell you the year, model, and engine size. For more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the links below. Tomos Revival no spark

Hi, Petersfam271 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
11. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

How to choose the right spark plug for my bike?

only a handful will work with the motorcycle engine you own. Also different brands (NGK, Bosch, DENSO, Champion, Esc) will work better on different types of engines. As a general rule of thumb, use the sparkplug your manufacturer recommends for your motorcycle (same brand and part number). Unfortunately some spark plugs are very specific to a type of engine and make only for that engine such as the NGK ME8 for $34 per sparkplug, compared to the normal price of $3 per sparkplug.
