Hi Anonymous, remove the cover, there are 2 screws on the left side of the battery box, remove them and the tray will pivot outward to facilitate battery removal. Good luck

Crank sensor location

Hi Anonymous, on a 2001 XL 1200C there is no Crank Position Sensor, it is called a Cam Position Sensor and is located behind the timing plate on the cam cover. For running roughly the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap to close or to wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose connections at battery terminals,
ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damage intake or exhaust vale.
This should keep you busy for awhile.

2001 1200C - no pwer when ignition switch is on. As soon as i connect a trickle charger all power comes on. Bike starts but no odometer, and speedo does not work. engine sounds like it is not firing...

I'd take the battery out and have it checked. Just because a battery checks 12 volts with a voltmeter doesn't mean it's good. Put a bit of a load on it and cells start shorting out. Take it to an automotive parts store. Usually they can load test the battery for you.

Good Luck

I have a 2009 harley sportster 1200c can i change the derby cover with out removing the oil

Yes, although I don't work on the later model bikes, I do believe you can do this because you have to take the derby cover off to adjust the clutch and you don't have to drain the oil to do that.

Good Luck

Their are 6 HD dealers in Sweden, I would contact the nearest dealer and ask them what you need to do. I'm pretty sure it is some type of relay that needs to be changed.
