SOURCE: My recently purchased used MT180HD tractor will

hi there joedorava

is there input to pumps , are there any leaks in the system either oil / air

have you purged all the air from the hydro units and wheel motors

if air is entraineed in oil , you may get alot of noise from caviatation in the pumps and wheel motors also heat , and vibration and no movement until all the air is gone
top up oil to correct level

caviatation can be quite destructive on pumps etc

i assume you used the correct hydraulic fluid for the unit in question

have you checked changed hydraulic filters when changed hydraulic fluid ?

other than that cant give any more info

SOURCE: What type of hydraulic oil goes in a 1954 massey ferguson farm tractor

The older tractors used type TCH which meant Torque Converter Hydraulic. That's sometimes hard to find now. NAPA has a product type TDH (stands for Torque converter, Differential, Hydraulic) and is appropriate. Regarding the pink color, some of the fluids come that way. It makes leaks easier to locate. Long live old iron!

I have a 1947 Dodge car with a fluid drive transmission. What do I use for fluid? I read something that said not to use automatic transmission fluid.

posted 10-24-2009
the unit is not an automatic as it is too early for that technology
if is a fluid drive coup[ling that holds around 3 pints of of oil preferably ISO-32 --tractor hydraulic fluid or in a pinch SAE 10 non detergent motor oil ( straight SAE10 mineral oil)
do not use ATF as it is incompatible with the unit
find a fuel /oil depot and get the oil from there as it will not be available at most auto parts or chain stores
very possible available from a tractor service center or agricultural supplies shop

Wat hydraulic fluid do i use for my ford tractor 6700 modelEC215 serial number B364256

First, whatever you buy be sure it is Transmission/hydraulic fluid not just hydraulic oil. The hydraulic and trans oil are the same oil. John Deere trans fluid will work, Case IH. Tractor supply has a fluid that works good, Traveller Trans/Hydraulic Renew. It is for older tractors.

L130. Does it have a place to fill the hydraulic oil?

im assuming your asking about the transmission due to fact this machine doesn't have a hydraulic pump on it

if so yes the transmission is refillable , just look at shift lever input shaft , its that little pipe plug right there in housing , your gonna need a syringe or something to squirt it in there

I added diesel to the hydraulic tank in my bobcat and never an it. I drained the tank, refilled it, and now the hydraulic system wont work.

You should use hydraulic oil, not diesel, drain it, refill it and if necessary bleed all the air from the system (some are self bleeding) Dependant on the type of hydraulic system you may have damaged the seals by using diesel oil, that, unfortunately is expensive.

My craftsman tractor will only mow for about 10-15 minutes then won't move.the transmission oil is okay and it is hydroststic driven

In my dealings with hydostat drives, the forward-reverse valve is bad or the pump itself. When it is cool the hydraulic oil is thicker but thins as it heats up, letting it get passed the bad seal(s) causing low pressure!

Won't pull itself up hill

You didn't indicate what model of tractor you have but most likely it is a hydrostatic drive problem . The power is transfered from the engine to the wheels by hydraulic pressure. If the fluid level (hydraulic oil) is low then it won't drive correctly. Follow the owners manual to check the fluid level. The other possibility is if this is an older unit it could actually have water in the oil.The water will not operate correctly. Where did the water come from? The transmission housing, is vented to atmosphere. On a hot humid day, while you're driving, the fluid and housing is heated. When the tractor cools, the ambient humid air enters the housing. When night rolls aroound the water condensing inside the housing. If you're lucky this transaxle may have a drain plug in the bottom. You can remove this and see if the oil looks milky. If it does, I'd drain it all and refill with fresh oil.

Transmission oil

Over here in New Zealand the factory oil - Esso Univis J26 - is unobtainable so we use Mobil HFA. It is an aircraft hydraulic oil but chemical tests have shown that it is the same as the Esso product.
