Question about 2007 Harley Davidson FLSTSC Softail Springer Classic
Battery is fine, lights horn all work. After I turn the ignition on and wait the 4 seconds, the key icon stays on and it will not crank. replaced the batteries in both fobs....no difference. Harley manual says take it to a dealer when this happens. It's a cople hours ride to the dealer, is there a fix for this? Thanks!!!

Got a feeling guy installing xtra lites didn't do a good job grounding his new installation...if the alarm is working fine now then don't worry about the alarm....recheck his work and rig up an extra ground wire if need be....good luck to you friend.....tim

check battery leads (both ends) , Then make sure battery is charged 100% (verry important) Get out your (Digital) volt meter set it to DC volts Connect leads to the Battery, it should have at least 12.6 v , Watch meter and start engine, if meter drops below 10.0 volts your battery may be weak and will have to be replaced, or your starter is'nt mechanicaly efficient and will have to be fixed or replaced. While engine is running note voltage should be 12.6-13v volts, then rev engine to 3000 RPM , meter should read 13.5- 15 vdc. If not you have a problem with your stator or regulator/rectifier.

That clicking sound you are hearing may be a circuit breaker tripping indicating a short circuit somewhere. I think the starter circuit is powered by the ignition circuit. If you have a short circuit in your ignition system the breaker will trip killing power to your ignition, thus the engine dying, and preventing power for the starter circuit preventing the bike from being restarted.
On your bike, I believe there is a chrome coil cover over the coil on the left side of the bike. Check and see if this cover has come loose. I've seen them come loose and fall down on the coil connector on top of the coil shorting it out. If that ain't it, just keep looking, there's a short somewhere. Good Luck
