Question about Apollo Orion 250cc Pit Dirt Bikes Pro

Just bought orion 250 four stroke and i belive its out of time

Engine will not start. Pulled motor out and compression tested at 75-85 psi and valves are opening at differend time( out of time) wondering if anyone has had this problem and what quick fix they have done or stear me into the right direction for fixing bike. Thx steve

There is no quick fix... you will have to pull timing components to put it back in proper timing.

Wen 3500 w/7 hp engine. What is the correct compression?


reports on the net suggets that a leak down test is the way to go
some reports that 45 psi will start an engine but be a bit powerless
70 + is pretty good and excellent is around 90-110 psi
I have never compression tested since I got caught ( inexperience) with a motor that felt it had no compression only to find ( after a rebuild) that it still had the same amount of compression
after making inquires of the local small engine shop I was informed that there is a special grind of the cam shaft that produces a situation when the valve is held open to reduce compression to allow it to start on a pull cord and the first time it fires the engine speed picks up and the valve is not affected by the grind and so it starts
engines as low as 4 hp have this system ( B&S 5hp lawn mower
victor 2 stroke with a compression control unit in the head and larger motors up to 20 hp with pull cord start)
so basically it is this
if you feel that the resistance as you pull the cord is not as it should be contact the service section for the engine make and see if it has a decompression start assist and if not then you can look for other faults

What is the psi compression on a 1998 kia sportage supose to be?


contact the parts store for specs they should have it on the computer system under overhaul specs..ask for a printout of rebuild proceedures..

02 yz 250 not reving up


Check the compression. It should have at least 100 psi,..if not,then its time to rebuild the top end..IE piston,rings,bore cylinder. If compression checks out,i would start with the power valve. Two stroke dirtbikes power valves are notorius for gumming up and sticking,causing them to not rev correctly.

My tdr 125 has 30 psi compression measured on cold engine with carb. removed. It won't start at all. It has very good spark and fuel. thx


30 PSI IS NOT GOOD AT ALL. YOU NEED TO DO A LEAK DOWN TEST ON THE MACHINE TO DETERMINE WHERE YOU ARE LOSING COMPRESSION. IT COULD BE AS EASY AS A VALVE ADJUSTMENT OR IT COULD BE A BAD RING. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HEAR WHERE THE LEAK IS BY LISTENING TO THE EXHAUST, CARB AND REMOVE THE OIL FILL PLUG AND YOU CAN FEEL THE AIR LEAKING . THE CARB OR EXHAUST IS MORE THAN LIKELY A VALVE PROBLEM POSSIBLY JUST ADJUSTMENT,. AIR FROM CRANKCASE IS RINGS.

I am working on a 2005 KX250F. It had a bad spark so the CDI was replaced. Still won't start. Compression is about 65 psi cold. Valves are fair using a leak down tester. Tried using starter fluid in the...


65PSI is way to low. It probably won’t run at 88PSI either. Put a small drop of engine oil (20w50 or similar) into the cylinder and do the compression test again. If there is a big improvement in compression it means the piston rings are worn and you will have to do a top-end overhaul. As a very rough guide you need 150PSI for a 4 stroke engine and about 120PSI for a 2 stroke engine.

What should the compression be on a 2004 Suzuki DRZ 125?


With the throttle held wide open, the compression should be between 140 psi and 180 psi. If the compression reads lower that 140 psi, adjust the valve tappet clearances and try again. Insufficient valve tappet clearance is the most common cause of low compression in four stroke engines.

110cc atv wont start got gas and spark but dont start..


There are three things required for combustion to occur: Fuel, compression, and a spark (at the right time). One, or more, of these is/are missing.
If the bike has been in storage for more than about a year, then you can bet that the carburetor is plugged up. It will need to be completely disassembled and cleaned.
Also, check the compression. if it has a four stroke engine, it should be capable of developing at least 135 psi of compression (throttle wide open, choke fully open). If the compression is low (and it is a four stroke engine), check the valve tappet clearances. Insufficient tappet clearance will cause low compression.

Do i have to mix 2 stroke oil on the gas for the 4 stroke bikes or just add regular gas on the tank? if is what is the scale for the mix?


DO NOT mix oil in the gas on your four stroke engine. You will foul the spark plug(s), build up deposits on the valves and head, and make a smokey, smelly mess. A two stroke engine uses the fuel/oil mix to lubricate the engine before being used as fuel. A four stroke engine has a separate lubrication system and does not normally burn any oil. As the name implies, a two stroke engine works in two strokes. The first stroke is downward, where the fuel/oil mix and air are drawn into the cylinder. The momentum from the crankshaft counterbalance or force from the other cylinder(s) drive the piston back up compressing the mix, and the spark plug sparks at or slightly before the top of the stroke. The rapid combustion of the fuel/oil/air mix drives the piston down, which is the power stroke, and then the cycle starts all over again. A four stroke engine has an intake stroke down taking in the fuel/air mix, a compression stroke up, a power stroke down as the fuel/air mix is ignited at or before the top of the stroke, and a exhaust stroke up before starting all over again. A four stroke is much cleaner and more reliable than a two stroke, but it is heavier and has less torque. A two stroke engine is much lighter and has more torque, but takes more maintenance.

Sounds like you have fire in the plugs with the sputtering you mention...

You could a compression test to see if you have a burned intake valve, but this is less likely than a timing problem in my opinion as intake valves run cooler and are less likely to burn than an exhaust valve.

If the timeing belt has slipped then you test the timing with a timing light and it will id the problem with the belt.

If the timing belt has not been changed in accordance with the maintenance schedule, then the belt may have jumped a notch and gotten the valve train out of sync with the pistons... to test this, without a timing light, take out all the plugs and charge you battery before you test for a spark sync with the compression stroke. You must distinguish the compression stroke sound from the exhaust stroke sound. Now when the compression stroke ie piston tops for plug firing on this stroke, it will compression stroke will be the loudest.... now on the compression stroke for the #1 cylinder, the plug should spark when you hear the loudest swishing sound, ie, when the piston is near the top dead center look for the spark to occur when the plug is on the wire and grounded to the block or frame... If it sparks slightly before tdc that is OK, but if its firing differently than on the compression stroke peak, then most likely you will have to get a new timing belt and retime the camshaft at the same time.

Also, if you could place somthing over the #1 plug hole while you look for the spark, that would also be a good indicator of when it should spark because the comprssion will blow the obstruction off the plug hole. I don't think you can put your finger or thumb over it but if you had a broomstick, it may work equally well.

Once you isolat a possible timing problem, you must of course face that procedure or take it a shop.
